I drew something last night, so now I think it's time I gave the right hemisphere of my cortex a rest. This thread opposes all things general, generally speaking. Specificity, detail, and accuracy are paramount! This is a game; you will be rewarded points for your participation. The winner gets a particular prize I am thinking of right now.

You may choose from these specific topics:

  • States and their respective capitals (5 points)
  • Differentiating between Asperger's syndrome and other mental or behavioral disorders (10 points for each disorder distinguished)
  • Kant's categorical imperative (25 points per thread with a maximum of 75 points)
  • Beatles' lyrics (1,000 points total; to be distributed as I see fit)
  • The price of gasoline (petroleum) (3 points per capita)
  • Phonetics (25 points per thread)
  • Phonology (25 points per thread)
  • U.S. national politics (15 points per thread)

I will also use other specific criteria to award points. For bonus points!, guess what I'm thinking.

specificity is to do with the strength of beer.

/m wonders if it's worth getting in with her heart thing now, before BeeBee wades in with her full stop?

This is close to a line of the Beatles' lyrics "Taxman." I will use my discretion to award you the appropriate number of points.

The Beatles wrote:
One, two, three, four...
Hrmm!
One, two, (one, two, three, four!)

Let me tell you how it will be;
There's one for you, nineteen for me.
'Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

Should five per cent appear too small,
Be thankful I don't take it all.
'Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

(if you drive a car, car;) - I’ll tax the street;
(if you try to sit, sit;) - I’ll tax your seat;
(if you get too cold, cold;) - I’ll tax the heat;
(if you take a walk, walk;) - I'll tax your feet.

Taxman!

'Cause I’m the taxman,

Yeah, I’m the taxman.

Don't ask me what I want it for, (ah-ah, mister Wilson)
If you don't want to pay some more. (ah-ah, mister heath)
'Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

Now my advice for those who die, (taxman)
Declare the pennies on your eyes. (taxman)
'Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

And you're working for no one but me.

Taxman!

It'll be of no use; I am heartless! :twisted: In fact, just to show how heartless I am, I am going to award you negative pointage! :roll:

New Hampshire - Concorde (Paul Remillard was supposed to be 'the man who sold New Hampshire' - see Julian May's Galactic Milieu Trilogy).

I have a rather Conservative Acquaintance, who believes there is no such thing as Asperger's Syndrome, AD(H)D or any of the other recent diagnostic criteria that have arisen in the last 15 years. This is rather surprising, considering that he once fancied himself as being 'slightly Aspergic' (whatever that means), so such an about face is interesting.

If one were to apply the traditional criteria, then indeed, Asperger's Syndrome would not exist; rather it would be categorised as being partly Schizoid (the ability to do things on your own without the need for peer-group approval), Narcissistic Personality 'Disorder', based upon the apparent unwillingness to submit to the worst excesses of casual acquaintance Histrionics, combined with the ability to distance oneself from the Triviality of the Mundane.

Gas is currently $1.09 - $1.11 a litre (where I live in Canada of course). A litre in Canada equates to about just over 4 gallons (Canadian) and equates to about 3.75 gallons (American). :)

Many hands make light work sure but too many cooks spoils the broth. Nothing ventured nothing gained though curiosity killed the cat. Some dogs are all bark and no bite, but once bitten twice shy.

erm... very good, NeantHumain (pat, pat, nervously).

can i post about Lacan and his somewhat peculiar ideas about "i" (as in i = the square root of minus 1)? it's well worth the laugh, and has only two rude words in it.

Perhaps it is the sign displaying the high price of gasoline at almost $3.00/gallon at the small station in Albany, New York that's owned by a local rebulican, or the yellow submarine that is blocking my view, but I could swear I have seen a similar thread somewhere before.

By examining the evidence I have gathered from your recent posts that are connected to things I have posted and inquiring about them to others, I have concluded that you seem to be very neurotypical, neanthumain.

Lacan is virtually impenetrable to me. I had to read at least some of his stuff and it really made no sense to me whatsoever. Language can be very slippery when used to obscure rather than enlighten.

Pretty good! I am impressed that you earned points by making use of three specific topics! However, there is no flow from one paragraph to the next. They are almost three independent posts in one post. For this I have to render a penalty of one-third the points you would have been awarded. Also, you were only rewarded ten points because you did not distinguish between Asperger's and schizoid and narcissistic PDs.

The price of gas is making going anywhere a luxury for me.

Yes, please, go ahead and make a post about those blasted imaginary numbers! They're all fake, anyway.

Quite right you are! I thought your thread could use a little competition, so I opened a sort of Wal-Mart of a new topic here (well, it's really no"bigger" than your topic; but you know what I mean). "Yellow Submarine" is a good song, so I'm going to give you a thousand points of light for that allusion! By the way, mentioning the fact that a local politician exists and is a member of a national party isn't enough to qualify as "U.S. national politics."

[color=#0D933B][b]I was going to award massive negative pointage for your doubting my Asperger's diagnosis, but I changed my mind. :lol:
