Yes, I am.

I try to hide it, but it doesn't always work.

Though I'm technically HFA and not aspie, but I don't think that matters.

Oh, yes.
I was just getting annoyed with myself at work last night, as my feet constantly seem to connect with things unnecessarily, not to mention spilling gross fluids over myself from time to time.

Sometimes I wobble and fall over when I'm standing absolutely still.

Oh yeah, I often trip and/or fall down. Slipping on my suitcase (I just did that one when I tried to sit on it, haha), slipping in the rain, tripping over the curb, that kind of thing.

I'm ok if I remember to concentrate on all of what I'm doing, if I have a lot on my mind then I'm much more clumsy.

Nah.

Motor clumsiness is more common in AS than AD (it's actually needed in AS if one is to be diagnosed with Gilberg's criteria; DSM has it in the differential diagnosis section, but it's not needed for a diagnosis).

True, but I meant if I'm extremely focused on myself I can avoid being noticeably clumsy. It's when I have other things on my mind my autism shines through. This comes from a lifelong way of hiding my 'oddities'. I'm late to diagnosis & have yet to feel comfortable just being myself, though I'm working on it.

I guess that is another way that I may fail the gilberg criteria. Gilberg seems to be pushing AS towards an ackward HFA anyway.

I DO Drop things, but rarely. I DO Spill things, but rarely. I may go a year without doing either. I usually drop things because I am occupied, and loosen my grip. I usually spill things because I misjudge distance with peripheral vision when preoccupied, etc.... The only time I stain my shirts while eating is when I am in a car, and slip(Usually because the food preparer was careless).(I HAVE hit a few tree branches, and misjudged a few table tops on coming back up, but a lot of that is dumb luck, etc...) I am usually a VERY neat eater. These days I DO bump my head way to much. I am a little taller than average, and fly in a lot of absurdly too small planes. I have also tripped about 6-7 times in the past decade, because there is more ice(2 times), there are some BAD cracks(2 times), and careless due to a lot of stress when hurying in the dark(about 3 times). So I THINK that is statistically insignificant even if(or even especially) because it is far more common than it ever has been.

I kinda agree. Gilberg, and those who use his criteria treat Asperger's as far more severe a disorder than many see it as, i.e., he doesn't like the DSM-IV-TR criteria as it's too easy to meet; Atwood, Wing and Asperger himself have it more as how Kanner's was originally seen: HFA (autism without mental retardation). Those with a broader cognitive impairment and "stim" almost constantly are seen as autistic in their eyes.

Anyway, I was up and trotting at 9 months of age; I never had problems with sport at all (I actually excel in motor stuff).

I wobble a bit when I stand still and I have difficulties walking at times as my right foot often tilts to the side.

Yesterday I misjudged the doorway and rammed my knee into the corner of the wall, what does that tell you?

I am however very good at hiding it. I walk with my heels about 1cm above the ground because it gives me better balance but no body can really tell that I'm walking on my toes. I know better than to try and hold something and concetrate on something else for long, I only hold my drinks when I am actually drinking from them. I lean over my plate while I am eating to avoid spills that way.

I also have weak ankles from damage I caused to them as a child by ignoring injuries so they cause me some problems too. I'm the only person I know who can twist her ankle walking on a flat sidewalk.

The upside is that I cope very well with pain, so it doesnt really bother me that much.
