Morning Light

You came to me like the morning light.
Our future looked so bright.

White picket fence, kids, together growing old,
And becoming one flesh is the dream I’ve always been told.

As a husband I thought I knew what it would take.
Didn’t I know what was at stake?

When it stormed I’d shelter you from the pain.
I never thought that I'd be the rain.

Impenetrable stone our love would withstand.
Picking up the pieces it turned into sand.

You’ve moved on even though I tried to make things right.
Evening has come, gone is the morning light.

im never getting married. i dont need the baby momma drama

I like to write poetry, but it only comes to me when I'm down or feeling very broken/hurt. Normally I couldn't care less about the stuff others write - but I really like this one. You think in metaphor like I do.
