Are aspies less lazy to engage in analysis than NTs?

Are aspies less put off by thinking in depth than NTs?

Do aspies enjoy thinking/analysing phenomena more than NTs or do we just need to think more given that things don't come easy to us?

This is one of those subjects people may throw a fit over.

I can only base my experience on my own brain.

I do analyze alot. Sometimes it's good and I can figure out solutions, other times it can be a hinderance.

The time when it is a hinderance is when the best thing to do is take action rather than over thinking.

In such cases, over-thinking a situation can turn into self sabatoge or psyching yourself out.

This is something I feel I can personally overcome now that I am aware of where the hinderance part kicks in as a negative.

The anaylzation of this hinderance though is a positive.

Subject: Well, we think differently.
1) Almost definitely.
2) Depends on the subject matter. Complex social relationships? NT country. Complex electronic switchboards? Swaths of interrelated facts and figures? Transportation systems? Aspie country.
3) Well, it depends on what "things" you're referring to. I think that we enjoy analysing things that come naturally to us, and I think that we also (as a result?) analyse things that don't come naturally to us, which I personally DON'T enjoy.

I need input from my NT-friends for this one. Because I can't put an answer for how analyzing is for NT-people. Been asking some NT-friends of my but they mostly reply "dont know". An AS-person should maybe have answered the same and then made his/her mission for the day to manage answer that question. (I would, yesterday was the time i did it last time). Maybe a qualitative, or quantitive research study would give some answer? :P Any researchers around with good funding? :P

Agree somewhat with the poster above. I over-analyze anything, even if it's a complex mathematical problem, or, some person raising it's hand in a social situation. But logical systems are alot different from humans, the logic in them are after a while comprehensible, NT's are.. well.. unpredicable and quite random to a degree. (Well, they are quite predicable when it comes to smalltalk, it's kind of fun to watch)

That's pretty funny. The stereotypical Asperger answer to the question of "how do you feel right now?" is the stereotypical NT answer to the question of "how do you analyze things?"

I do not know.
It's never crossed my mind.

Do aspies think more than NTs?

Well of course we do. We have to.

Our language and social skills do not come to us innately. We frequently don't go through a "baby-talk" phase. We can learn body language and other non-verbal communication, but we have to think about it.

Yeah, what he said really. My missus often tells me that she's surprised how well I manage to cope in odd social situations like weddings for example, full of people we've never met before, but to me it's because the alien-ness of that situation is how pretty much all social interaction is to me, and hence I'm well practised at it :)

I never find the whole general social small talk thing comes easy to me because it feels unnatural, and thus the only way to manage it is to think about it constantly whilst on the go.

As for whether I analyse stuff more than NT's, I think it's safe to say it's true. I think my biggest failing in life is that I'm able to over-analyse the fun in almost anything...

True :) You pinpointed my behaviour totally in social situations. Talked to a friend about this recently, that, I have to do everything consciously that others do not. So I sit there, around people, they are talking and such, and I just sit there, analyzing and analyzing what they are doing; "That girl talks to that guy because, mmm.. because, no she doesn't like her or maybe she does." Recently I've begun that same thing with body language, and it's exhausting. My psychologist told me to just give up the analyzing, and I've tried.. well, works kind of good, because I can talk to people, downside is .. I wish I were somehere where people are just more interesting. (I'm the direct person, that skips the small talk).

(No, i'm not an elitist, I like people, I just.. cant stand most of them :P)

Yes I believe Aspies think more than NTs because Aspies as a whole are more likely to be introverted rather than extroverted compared to NTs in general.
