...with each other as they are with physical contact with NT's?

This question is directed at Aspies who've actually met other Aspies (which I have yet to do, myself), of course.

Hmm.

People vary I like to touch and hug with people I am close to and hold affection for. Some do don't among ASD'ers it is usual (if not obligatory) to ask and warn "are you ready for a hug" (in Dr Who "the Satan Pit" there is a scene where he does this perfectly). NT's especially the "touchy, feely" kind will sometimes/often ignore this protocol and are especially unwelcome.
Some people just don't like being touched.

i am the kind of person who loves hugs, they must be tight, but if your coming with a tight one dont even need to ask just come on top of me and hug me!

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

My best friend is an aspie as well, and now that I think about it we dont engage in much touching at all. On the rare chance she does want a hug she warns me first and vice versa.

I have zero tolerance for gentle touching, it aggravates me and I get overwhelmed much more easily in scenarios where this is expected. It makes no difference if the person is NT or AS.

with me light touch doesent matter, for me it sucks! aggrivation up the wazoo... so i have a protocol for when people see me, if you cant give deep pressure touch or tight hugs dont touch me at all!

My boyfriend is pretty well the only person who ever touches me without warning ahead of time. Even tight hugs and deep pressure from most people are too much for me. I'm pretty sure I'm at the extreme end of this scale, as I really dont like to be touched at all and my boyfriend and I take deep pressure to a new level.

I never considered that not liking to be touched in what most people consider a loving and affectionate manner had anything to do with my anxiety levels. Every time I think I have a lock on how AS has affected my life another light turns on and I'm left shaking my head again in amazement.

I don't mind being touched at all, I find it a nice way of social interaction. Especially since I'm bad at other, subtile, ways of interaction. I think it's a good, open, way of showing how you feel about someone.

Ofcourse, there are always the attention-needing huggers in every highschool which are just plain annoying.

I have met alot of other aspie's and I see they don't like being touched, which I respect and understand. You shouldn't touch someone you don't know, in the first place.

I don't like to touch or hug people either. I'm too afraid to invade their private space, and prefer if mine weren't either. I don't think the fact that you're Aspie changes that; in fact, the fact that you are Aspie means you're less likely to touch me, and we both would probably prefer it thus.

for someone to hug me, they'd have to be really, really benign and angelic, with zero ulteriors other than some kind of humanity sharing thing. even then i'd be very hypervigilant.

The two people in this world that I have had physical contact with and enjoyed were my ex-girlfriend and my old friend who had A-SPD, hugging them was fun. Anyone else, step away.
