For arrogant NTs that think the world is better off without Aspies.

We need to start a group to CAN CAN.

Who's w/ me?

Best,

Idaho Aspie :bounce:

Isn't the 'cure' you need strategies to deal with your own feelings and for understanding NT's?

I say this because my grandsons have been taught amazing strategies from Tony Attwood's clinic for about a year now. The transfomation is absolutely amazing. The boys are still aspie but have control.

I think that the topic was meant to arouse attention from non-curebies and bring support to the neurodiversity cause. Of course, at WP it's more or less preaching to the converted.

That's great news. I wish Dr. Phil, Ellen DeGeneres and the other talk show hosts would bring Dr. Attwood and his followers on their shows and get the word out. Meanwhile, you're right about the cure. One cannot expect understanding if one does not offer it.

Thanks fo your replies. I knew what the OP was getting at, but I was having a dig at Kilroy. You show a lot of sense in recognising the greatness pf the Land Downunder, Kilroy! :salut:

It's easy for me to make statements about aspergers and I'm glad I did not upset anyone.

I'll join CAN CAN (DO) with you.

I would never take the cure, if somebody offered me $1,000,000 to take it!

Headache?

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

Autism Speaks will NEVER speak for me

Kilroy, it DOES work. I would not have been able to speak, live sensibly, read or write unless I had done ABA (a similar programme - I think...). IT CAN HAPPEN. IT DOES HAPPEN.

Well, my problem is that I can not learn in "Real Time" what people are feeling and thinking. It is only experience, and a lot of thinking that gets me around to understanding NTs.

The other two problems I have with AS is the limited working memory, and the burnout or being overhelmed with too much at one time. I think with AS you get way into things, so when you get way into everything and there are too many things, it wears you out quickly. I cannot leave somethings well enough alone, I must understand it 1000% or not at all.

Best,

Idaho Aspie
