Are your hands open when you sit or stand?

Are they relaxed?

Do you ball one hand up in a fist?

Do you ball two hands up?

I have one hand closed balled up in a fist when I sit. Often when I stand too. I am not thinking anything violent either. It just seems natural for me. What about you?

im not thinking violent either at all.. however mine both curl up too, two reasons, since forever with the autism, and even moreso in frequency due to a shortening of my muscles caused by the neurological disease i have.

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

My right hand balls up, whether I'm standing, or sitting. I also have a habit of flexing it, repeatedly.

I hand wring and also dig nails into my arms when sitting, especially if I'm anxious (which is a lot of the time!)

When standing, if I am standing around and nervous, I'll do the same.

If I have something to carry, like my handbag, I will rest my hand or both hands on it.

I use to have this problem all the time when I was a teenager: what should I do with might hands when I'm not using them?

For the most part, I don't care anymore. I have resigned myself to be a bit off all the time.

I wring my hands a lot, especially when I'm sitting, so that generally means they're open. Otherwise they're usually just hanging relaxed, or sometimes closed, but not tense like a fist.

Sometimes, especially when I've just awoken, one of my hands (usually the left) will close itself and resist opening. It's not like a fist. It's curled with my the fingertips placed on the palm. I can force it open, but it's very shaky and then closes again when I relax. After some time, this always goes away, and my hand hangs normally again.

Depends on the context really. I can drum/punch my thighs, wring my fists, rub my fingers together, cross and rotate around each digit, drawing round shapes and patterns around me or do nothing with them. I used to repress my stimming so I would try to get away without doing anything. sometimes I lost self control and found myself slipping off my chair and drawing around the pasterns on a carpet and so on.

the only time it does not happen is when i am on my laptop because my hands are constantly in "active" mode when i am using my laptop... but upon going inactive i get the curling thingie

When standing: My arms are almost always crossed. Or with my thumbs in my belt loops. I hate the feeling of my arms just hanging there limp, they need to be elevated. Of course doing this makes people think I'm angry/rude/antisocial...

When sitting: I do a number of things. Sit on my hands, wring my fingers/hands, tap/scratch my thighs, playing with my lips with my fingers, etc.

My hands are normally open when I'm not doing any of the above things. I don't like the feeling of a closed fist.

Mine naturally clench. If they're not then I'm sitting on them. Or I'm cracking my knuckles loudly and often and driving everyone around me mad...

I never know what I should do with my hands then. When I'm standing, I try to keep them behind my back because it would look stupid if they were dangling loosely.

Haha, I crack my knuckles all the time. I was once told by an elementary teacher that it would cause me to have lange knuckles when I got older. So I said "okay" and cracked them at her. :D
She said something about how girls wouldn't like to have large knuckles, and I reminded her that I was not a girl. Why do people so often tell me things like this, and what does it have to do with anything? 8O
