We had our bi-annual department breakfast today, at one of the nicest restaurants by the lovely sea. The company paid for everything.

The politics was so accute that nobody had a good time. We smalltalked, swallowed the breakfast, smiled, left.

The time allocated for the event was 2 hours, but after one hour and a half we left because everyone was dying to go. Ten people having a miserable time and trying like hell to look as if they were having a great time.

The joys of the NT society. What we're missing for not being like them, aaaah!

What was the breakfast about?

It is proberbly the stress of Christmas and Christmas shopping and remember some colleagues don't get on well in a social environment but get on well in there work place because 'they are in the same situation'

Isn't breakfast about food?

I had hot chocolate and a huge portion of politics on both sides.

Well I suppose if you are miserable it doesn't matter if you are NT or AS. As you learned today. :)

Yes, today I did realize that they're not better off than me. The location was lovely, so I got up very early and arrived over an hour before everyone. I sat at a coffee-shop by the sea with a cup of tea and browsed travel brochures. They all arrived panting at the last minute, did their politics act as best as they could, and left quickly. I strolled back to the car in peace.

What kind of politics were they selling? Did they fund this breakfast?

That's one thing I love about being retired, I don't have to fight office politics eight hours a day.

Is that your photo as an avatar, you don't look old enough to retire...

Maybe I need to move to Hungary

I mostly don't even notice office politics and am always startled when someone tells me what's going on underneath the surface. On the other hand, I still have to concentrate on things like remembering to say goodbye before I leave and working out if I should be doing more eye-contact or change my tone of voice.

Thank you for letting me know of the glories of NT society. I am now miserable in my AS and desperate to become normal and thus better.

I had a lovely time at my office christmas lunch.. I was fortunate to sit between my quiet, calm boss and a man who talked and talked about his holidays, and grandchildren, so I didnt have to small talk with anyone. I think it was a nice group in general but i noted my stress levels were lower than I thought they would be.
