Do you make your eyes look away from the camera in pictures?

I've noticed that my son does this. More so in the past year than in the past.
He'll face the camera but dart his eyes away.
(If I do get him to look at the camera it's a forced blank stare in his eyes. )

Just wondering if others have noticed this in any of their pics?

moreso when I was young...there are only a few pics of me as a kid where I am looking directly at the camera..I have worked on it...now I might just tense up and look weird in photos

I've always assumed it was his AS and so on. I remember telling the photographers just to take the pics anyway.

If they kept asking him to look at the camera he was just going to get upset....

I didn't really do so when I was younger (nor did I necessarily look at it either, I did both about equally), but I've developed an extreme distaste for forced-looking pictures as I've gotten older, so I stopped smiling for cameras or staring directly at cameras for the most part because I just don't like cheesy forced photos. Although for awhile I notice in official photos I often had this scared deer-in-the-headlights look on my face (often with half the face doing one thing, half doing another, and only one eye pointing at the camera).

Could be that he's developed this distaste (and the understanding that leads to that) earlier than I did.

I"ve never done this. I may not look straight on b'cause of the flash and that hurts my eyes. But generally I would look in the lens.

I hate flashes and always have done, but I wouldn't avoid the camera when I was younger I don't think... all the photos are of me looking at it anyway!!

I can't really judge now as I'm properly camera-trained from when I did some freelance broadcast journalism.

I always look right into the camera when a picture is being taken of me. I also come off looking like the killer from psycho...

I do this only when whoever's behind the camera takes too long to take the picture. Makes me feel uneasy.

Yeah, I guess I do this still. I'm not photogenic. I blink a lot and tend to not smile. I find it hard to look straight at the camera for a given time period. I suppose my mom has commented on my blank stare/fake smile deal.

I just avoid cameras altogether...

My facial expressions are usually pretty subtle, so when I have photos taken, they tell me to smile. I tell them I am smiling, they insist I am not, and the photos come out with a slightly sweet grimace instead of an almost-real pleased expression (which is usually the best you can get from me). This is why lots of my school photos have a sweet "DIE, SUCKER!" expression: photographers of kids usually want the cheesy grin type of smile. I refuse to show my teeth in photos; it's disturbing. Most people think I have braces or really bad teeth for this reason, though I have neither.

I don't like to look at cameras, usually, because it feels like someone is examining me. It's especially bad if it takes more than a few seconds to take a photo.

I'm okay with taking my own picture, though, and I can get my real expressions that way.

It's not necessarily an aspie thing but it could be.

Consider getting him sunnies or learn to use photoshop.

For some strange reason, I always start looking stupid when someone gets out a camera.

I try to look straight at the camera, but I usually end up looking slightly away to avoid the flash.

I forgot to add, ever since I grew up, for some reason when I look straight at the camera it looks like I'm glaring, so that's another reason I don't usually do it.
