Do you sit or lie in a fetal position?

I do. My last boyfriend had a problem with it though.

I wonder if lying or sitting in this position has to do with the autism spectrum. I have seen pictures of autistic kids sitting in that position so it started to make me wonder.

I lie in a fetal position under the covers because it help keeps my body warm. Sometimes I just lie like that for nothing because it feels comfortable. Sometimes I sit that way too because it's comfortable.

I sleep in fetal position and if I lie down on the couch while watching a movie or TV, I lie like that then as well.

No. I just simply lie down sprawled.

I always sleep in the fetal position, and when I sit, I usually lean forward with my arms crossed to snuggle up to myself.

Yes, I will sometimes sleep in a fetal or semi-fetal position though not all the time.

I do tend to lie down in a foetal position, and also when I'm sitting on the sofa I'll often sit in that position and lean against one of the arms. It sometimes even feels uncomfortable for me to sit with my legs down, although Dad always tells me to sit like that in case putting my feet up ruins the sofa. ;^^

Sometimes I do.

Mostly when I'm real stressed (it's actually supposed to be a great stress reliever), but sometimes when I'm cold.

I do a fair amount. I think it's less because it's 'fetal', and more because it's the position that protects most of the body so it's a very instinctive position to lie in (and nothing Freudian or 'regressive' about it, regardless of how many times I've been called 'regressed' for doing it).

I sit (when I can get away with it) and lie in a fetal position.

When I’m at home, I sit with either one or both knees against my chest, especially while I’m at the computer.

When I'm cold (hardly ever) or when I'm catatonic (which hasn't been for a while).

I don't like to sit with both my feet on the ground so I usually have my legs crossed or I sit with with one leg under me. This is sometimes uncomfortable but less so than having both feet on the ground.

I sleep in a fetal-like position all the time but mostly when I'm stressed or upset. I find lying with my legs stretched out straight to be inherently uncomfortable. I usually have my knees bent and I lie on my side when I sleep. My legs are not usually pressed against my chest or I'd never get any sleep.

I love weird postures, I used to watch TV sitting upside-down when I was a kid.

ditto over here... but mine is a modified semi-fetal type thingy...

i tend to sleep on my right side, almost like im sitting in a chair thats rotated 90 degrees hehe and i tend to have my head in my arm since its nice and warm...

i find it VERY uncomfortable and painful to have my legs straight out at 180 degree angles... my muscles are very spastic and that is a position gaurenteed to trigger spasms... sitting is fine 90-140 degrees is good...

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.
