Bleeding hearts. It's just so cool how a flower can take a familiar shape, and they're just so subtly beautiful. They don't get in the way, but they make you look. Plus they don't just come in pink. I wish I had some growing in my backyard.


EDIT: And also, honeysuckles. They're yummy. My elementary school had a huge patch out on the playground and I have fond memories of spending sunny June days draining them all dry with my friends. And they come in a bunch of different colors.

i like the one in the middle, goes nice with the scenery, although I am not much of a fan of honeysuckle but i don't mind the cornflower

For fragrance, for healing properties, for colour, for vibrancy, for how they feel against your skin and how they move with the sun and the colours and the subtle tones in them, and the way they appear in the most random of places, and they can change mood and feelings, and the symbolism attached, for colour, for the way they change a room's appearance, for how varied they are, for symmetry and use of the golden section...

Geez, I'm quite into my flowers aren't I...? :S

I love Zinnias. When I was a kid there was a woman in our neighborhood who grew them and they surround her yard around the fence line. Children were always picking them to take home to their mothers. One day the woman came out and explained to me that I could have zinnias any time I wanted. All I had to do was knock on her door and ask. She also gave me seeds. Now, I grow my own every summer. They last forever as cut flowers in a vase and the colors are brilliant.

Did anyone else ever get the fairy toothbrushes from the middle of periwinkles as a kid?

If you strip away the petals and the flower-stem (receptacle and peduncle) you're left with what looks like a tiny toothbrush. My Mum told us that these were where fairies kept their toothbrushes, so we always used to go and find them as kids and collect the toothbrushes.

It's a great game to play with kids if you're ever looking after them.

I like lots of flowers, but I guess my favorite would be "grape hyacinth Muscari botryoides." That's what the website that I looked them up on said they were anyways.

I like them the best, not because they are the prettiest, but because they remind me of my childhood.

I've always liked Sunflowers and Daffodils the most, they make me feel remotely cheerful for a short amount of time...
But, not wanting to be known as the forum b****, but how come this has ended up in the Autism discussion section, and not the random discussion section?...

I like forget-me-nots as I am sometimes so invisible to the world I think I could vanish and no-one would know, they are small and insignificant also
