I don't think there is anyone alive today that is really NT.

Who in the hell can escape all these diagnosis and defects out there today? Oh and did you know that if you report any violent thoughts to your psychiatrist, that shrink must tell the govt?

Where does it say the thing about the govvie?

I don't think I told my psychiatrist anything. It's the psychologist I told all the interesting stuff! :D

So what; is this for background checks, statistics, or a future holocaust in the planning stages?

maybe it's in my state by my psychiatrist asked me questions about violence and said outloud "You do know that if you say you are thinking about hurting anyone or commiting violent acts I have to report it to the government."

Did he really mean that??? Is there some new law that I'm not aware of?

In the US, laws are CRAZY! I WILL say that I have heard that TECHNICALLY, it could be argued that a psychologist doesn't have to abide by the secrecy. Psychiatrist secrecy is SUPPOSED to be sacrosanct! Still, WHO KNOWS!? ALL Doctors are supposed to keep secrets, etc... yet they tell insurance companies, and are required to tell of suspected child abuse.

If they violate the trust, it could OBLITERATE the profession by restricting the willingness of people to go to them and be candid.

It is one of those things that, like lawyer confidentiality, is a necessary evil to allow the just and decent to benefit.

it's all relative. Each country holds different aspects of what security means. In Europe, it's illegal to get a lot of the Internet information US people give up; yet in downtown London, there's thousands of Video cameras covering (and being monitored) every move everyone makes.

I've often remarked that Lawyers are to American what Astrologers are to India..;) Everyone's afraid of getting sued. of course, we have no monopoly on stupid, one-size-fits-all laws...;)

I don't know if this guy was just pulling my leg or what. I hope so because he asked if I ever "thought" about hurting someone or killing someone. Then he told me he would have to report it to the govt if that were true.

I didn't know how to take that question in the first place so confusingly I thought, does he mean have I ever jokingly told someone I was going to kill them? Yes.

Have I ever thought about hurting someone? Yes. In self defense.

Have I ever thought about killing someone? Yes. Would I actually go through with it? HELL NO. Not unless it came down to extreme self defense.

So I am not allowed to think these thoughts at all?

When they ask you about violent thoughts, they are asking
a)are you planning to hurt/kill someone?
b)are you fantasizing about hurting/killing someone?
c)do you play, think about, obsess over weapons?

That kind of thing. You know, in California we were receiving state help from the Regional Center. One service they offered was family counseling. In the paperwork, it stated that the social worker/counselor would report what we said. Anything. So, we declined it.
I think state-funded mental health services are obligated to document the "progress" of a "patient".

Seriously? I think if it's a severe case, MAYBE, but I've daydreamed some violent stuff, but I would have NEVER EVER done them. It was just a way to express myself!
