Seems my mother is now realizing what she didn't realize before, but instead of being sorry for how she treated me, she is suggesting I go on meds instead...

Anyone having this issue? How do you handle?

I took various meds when I was a kid. Both my sons are on meds now, but not for "autism", they're taking mood stabilizers for bipolar swings and both take something to help sleep. One on a generic form of ambien, and the other can get by on melatonin.

The thing is meds don't just "fix" everything. If you have a co-morbid condition that is caused by brain chemistry being out of whack, the only way to correct that is with meds. If you are just talking about "taking meds for autism" I'm not aware of any such treatment that is effective.
