Hi, sorry I haven't posted in ages. I totally forgot about this place! Sorry!

I have a question, my tics have been displaying themselves at times. These are due to stress. We've just moved, plus we're going back and forth from our old house still getting things. Also, there's issues at my job. I work at a Goodwill retail store. You'd think that that kind of place would accept employees with neurological disorders, right? Well, I've had pure Hell working there! Alot of my co-workers think I'm mentally ret*d! Anyways..about the tics, mine have been showing up maybe once or twice a day. It includes head-shaking, coughing, thoughts of wanting to flip the bird or say inappropriate things, however I hold it in.. it wouldn't be on purpose, sniffling. Those are the ones I can think of at the moment that I am experiencing. Is this normal for a person to experience tics less than 3-4 times a day? Does anyone else experience this? Any comments or replys would be greatly appreciated.
ありがとう!

I used to suffer from tics a lot more, mostly in grade school and high school. They are under much better control now, and only appear when I am greatly stressed. Sounds like work and home related stress is bringing yours out more.

I get tics all the time, like the headshaking, coughing, whole body twitching, especially due to stress! On the tourettes board, they say magnesium helps. So I took magnesium pills, and see alittle different, try it.

Tension never helps anyone. But sometimes the stuff they give you for it is worse. If don't have tourettes (in which case, there isn't always something they can do about it)....try meditation. No, I have not lost my tiny mind. I used to have some terrible ticks. Then, one day, sitting on a train platform in Aux Les Bans (France) my wife said, put that tick on a train going the other way, and get rid of it. I can't figure out why those were magic words, but it worked. And that was 20 years ago.

And that facial tick had been with me for 30 years.

As I say, if it's tourettes, that probably won't work. But if it's nerves, there are other things that will take down the tension....I don't mean drugs......I'm serious. Meditation. 15 minutes of complete relaxation lying flat on the floor and totally relaxing your muscles. Think about NOTHING. It'll all be there in 15 minutes when you get up, but for those 15 minutes, it's your time. Just you. Try not to move a muscle. NO don't stop breathing. Deep long breaths. No thinking allowed. Shut everything out. Preferably at night in a dark room on the floor.

Think I'm finally lost my mind?

So do I, but it works.

I second that lying flat on the ground and just breathing is great for releaving stress which helps reduce my twitchy stimming behaviors. I find the lying on my front works best as it feels like a soothing weigh is pressing down on me.
I usually feel as refreshed from the stress as if I spent hours sleeping.
