Thanks for the info. I know a woman with a 28 year old son who is guilty of Aspergers by Proxy. She refuses to let him be a man and still literally leads him around by the hand.

I also know some normal kids that are also AS by Proxy.

I enjoyed that article very much.
What that guy is saying about Asperger's and psychology is very much the hunch I got as I became further acquainted with this place.
. . .and that woman has a lot in common with my mother. For example she had me all my life going to psychologists (being one herself) and towards my late teens I saw a pattern beginning to emerge:

Mother: Did he say that you should [something] and that you need to [something] and that. . .
Me: Nope. He said you should leave me the hell alone.
Mother: How d. . . I really thought he was a much smarter professional. . . How can. . .
Me: Look, why are you paying this guy 100 bucks a meeting if all you want is him to say whatever your opinion already is?
-
Shrink (a couple says later): Jack, your mother called again. I want you to know I told her she should stay out of. . . etc

Also, instead of interpreting everything I do or express as the result of a mental illness of some sort she might've as well not told me stories about parents murdering their child when I was around 6 and that would've solved a lot of things from the start. . . I mean wtf is that for anyway. . .

IMO I see many parents of young Aspies, some may not even be Aspie, and they are manic about getting their kid that diagnosis. Then the IEP, getting them free OT and counseling. With some kids yeah I can see where its important. But I see a trend among some parents, particularly those that wished they'd rather not had kids who try to get their kid labeled so that they can insist all the counselors and special ed teachers raise their kids so they don't have to. Its a way to push off parental responsibility onto teachers. Anyone else noticed this?

I've also seen some that were ridiculous because they go from counselor to counselor trying to get an AS diagnosis for toddlers just because they insist on watching one dvd over and over. Hey MOST NT toddlers are like that too. Also see a trend that many parents of bratty ill behaved kids try to get an AS diagnosis when the kid is NT with just a bad attitude or else bipolar.

As my psych told me the majority of people that come in the door these days are looking for AS diagnosis and nothing else. Its a trend and irresponsible parents are getting caught up within the trend.
