Hi!
I am writing an essay about the GFCF diet where I discuss whether it works or not. I was wondering what experiences you have had with the diet - either if you're on it, or if you have friends or family members on it. If you know any interesting articles or websites I'd like to see those too. I have had problems finding criticism on it.
Thanks a lot :)

Now, when you say 'works'...

Clearly, I'm still an aspie. Not much has changed in that department. However, I am a lot calmer, I experience far less anxiety, since I've been on it. I feel happier in general. So, it has 'worked' for me, but it has not cured me.

In GFCF, what does the CF stand for?

Thanks for the swift reply, Age1600!

I've been GF free (most of the time) for many years, and I believe it has helped reduce a lot of problems, like brain fog. But I use lactaid pills so I can eat dairy foods. I guess I'm not casein free. The past couple of years the thing I notice that really makes a difference is if I have been remembering to take all of my dietary supplements (multi-vitamin, B complex, B12, and especially Evening Primrose oil capsules -- they have something called linoleic acid that seems to help my mind focus and makes distractions fade into the background.)

Hehe no prob, really? I cant do GF or CF at all, right now all im eating is chicken caeser wraps, and protein shakes or boost, thats about it, anything else i literally throw up. I'm like the pickyest eater of them all! My mind just wants one thing if i dont get it, i stop eating, and been almost hospitalized soo many times for it! So GFCF diet won't help me at all :(

Yikes! What do you think makes your body reject other foods? Taste? Texture? Hyper-sensitive stomach?
Just remember to keep trying bits of other things now and then. Maybe you'll find something else you can eat.

Yea it sucks, well the fact that i have a small esphogus, texture, taste, and hyper sensitive stomach all play a role. I've been like this since i was born, it sucks, luckily boost and shakes keep me alive. I remember my frosh year in hs, i was only 50lbs almost died, it was bad. Thanks for the advice though hehe!

Hi Ive found this diet very helpful and I go quite non vocal and aggressive if i have gluten or dairy and extremly bad if it has both like in cream cake. I am currently doing a msc in psych research methods specialising in AS, I have found sage publications autism journal to have the best articles and several on the diet- if Iwas you I would look at autism medical website and its links and the research at birmingham on sulfite metabolism and the sunderland university website that does the best research on G/F C/F diet and tests people ect. Good luck! :D
