ok, I just Googled it. Nevermind. It's much more severe than AS and affects almost exclusively girls.

Yeah, just googled it myself too. Didn't know much about it until just now, actually.

Puts things in somewhat of a perspective, though. Life expectancy of around 40 years? Possibility of seizurs (sp?)? Sounds kinda harsh... :S

Yeah, the average retts person would fail SEVERAL points for AS. HECK, they would not even look autistic!

reason it effects almost exclusively girls is because it's so severe in boys, they usually die prenatally.

Rett's syndrome is a genetic developmental disorder like Down's syndrome. Some severe autistic-like symptoms can sometimes be seen in people with this disorder, but that's only a minor part of it. The cognitive and behavioral profile of someone with this disorder is totally different from that of someone with high-functioning autism or Asperger's syndrome.
