when I get happy, excited, or if something is really fun, I start clapping and giggling-my eyes water profusely then burn because they are watering, lol... it takes me 20 minutes sometimes to calm down over something I just happened to glance at or something I figured out on my own.

Does anyone else do this?

Na...I don't really show much overt emotion. Actually...I think I smile when I'm happy and/or excited, smiling is something that I rarely do.

What you dudes do sounds really cute though. :)

I clap if I'm excited, and I also sort-of squeak. :P I can't really describe it, it's like a sort of really high-pitched whispered squeal (kind of like the squeal a TV makes, only I don't think it's quite as annoying, or at least I hope not :P ).

I always clap when I'm excited or just anxious, and jump up and down like a 3 year old

Yes, but I hand-flap more than I clap and I usually do it when I'm alone.

If I'd had any doubts about my diagnosis (not that I do), reading these "symptom" threads is totally reinforcing the truth of it. Things like clapping and jumping up and down, needing the light on to eat, sniffing food before eating, walking on tiptoe and holding an arm straight up in the air just for fun - these were all just amusing character traits, but now it seems like they were clues all along. That's assuming these are really characteristic to aspies and not just something that all humans do but only aspies talk about ;)

I am more the blank emotionless one that might grin or if I'm really excited or happy smile.
My sister is one who jumps around claps hands and squeels, but I don't know if she is AS.

I click my nails together when excited but nervous. When I do i clap the back of my left hand against the palm of my right. I have no idea why I do not even clap properly. :? I also giggle a lot when happy nervous.

I don't like to clap at all, and I rarely do when I'm "supposed" to clap, like at the end of a performance, etc. To me, it is sort of a shock to the senses. Hitting my hands together at high velocity and making a loud noise is not particularly comfortable to me, so I choose not to do it.

I clap sometimes when I'm excited too, but it's a very quick one. Then I also jump up and down like a little child. haha
