If you're looking for a positive slant on autism, you may find it on Larry King Live this Thursday, February 14.

doesn't he have representatives of autism speaks on the show or am I mistaken?

I don't know about this. I have seen once Tony Braxton and other mothers of autistic children interviewed in his program and it wasn't bad.
About thursday program."Larry's invited autism celebs, including Holly Robinson Peete, Doug Flutie and Toni Braxton, to talk about autism on Valentine's day. He's also invited Jason McElwain, the young man with an autism spectrum diagnosis who made a tricky basketball shot and won the heart of the world."

I've shared an elevator with Toni braxton before. She's ok (a bit emotional and not entirely grounded, but ok).

But Jason McElwain is the only real autism celebrity of that bunch.

Alex yoy should go on Larry King.

Why dont they show a low functoning autistic on larry king like amanda baggs or at least both sides not just really really really high functoning or aspergers? Let everyone see both ends and the middle of the spectrum...thats the problem with autism speaks they play on peoples feelings...other then that they arent that "bad" they are the only org raising money for something at least even if its a "cure"...they got up off their a** and raised money...and brought some sort of awareness that wasnt around before....but hey ...hate them or love them...they are making the money...and uhhhhh we arent!

This will be bad - Holly Robinson Peete is a buddy of Jenny McCarthy, so it's NOT good news for us at all. Unless we get a cat fight between Robinson and Toni Branxton! (not to be taken seriously!)

I don't think Amanda Baggs has ever been on Larry King Live.

Perhaps I'm confusing it for another CNN program. But she's definitely been on TV.

I'm not a fan of Holly (her husband's awesome, but that's a different story), but Doug Flutie is going to be on there too. He rocks.

How so, Beau? I must admit I don't know Doug Flutie.

First, I read that it would be aired Monday (of this week), but it wasn't. Then it supposedly was going to be on Thursday, but again, more politics-not the autism episode. So I'm still waiting to see if/when this may be on...
Generally don't like LKL, but want to know when any program plans to have show on the dx-just in case I feel like checking it out.
I'm very impatient for shows to feature adults with the dx-and this doesn't seem to be happening any time soon. Most of these programs only have parents (of young and/or "severely impaired" children). Wish the demographic to which I belong (people over age 18 who have intriguing blend of strengths & weaknesses) would get more positive attention. Guess we're not "sensational" (dramatic & catastrophic) enough for mass media to include ?

That's right, Belfast - particularly in America. Autism being genetic is old news. Rain Man killed the concept of sensationalism from our side of the metaphorical fence. The curebies are presenting a sensational alternative, and the media is running with it - which is all the more reason why the silence of the majority of the scientific community is hurting rather than helping.

Larry King Live can be OK. The edition back in July when they had the wrestlers on talking about Chris Benoit was terrific. He's also been good on occasion when he's had celebrities on. Even with politics he can be good, but then it depends who his guest is. I saw a highlight thing with bits from when he had Richard Nixon on. Really good stuff - especially for someone who only knew him for Watergate and nothing else. Very enlightening.

But yeah, he's had his bad days as well - like when he had Jenny McCarthy on!
