...That he doesn't think I have Asperger's? THE EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST DID A 3 HOUR ASSESSMENT ON ME AND CONCLUDED THAT I HAVE ASPERGER'S.

May I make a note that my doctor is very incompetent, he doesn't even remember any of my details. At least my old doctor knew me somewhat. This doctor forgets what meds I'm on and what school I go to. I had a blood test, and he couldn't find the results.

Yeah, that doctor seems like an idiot. Why make such a statement anyway? Apparently you seem comfortable with it, aren't using it as any sort of crutch, etc....

Doctors are overrated, in particular, Psychologists. Any field that comes down to opinion is useless, IMNSHO.

Thank you all.

Yes, my doctor is useless. I could change doctors, but the WHOLE of the adult mental health services are useless, its a common opinion. I just see my dr because if I don't I will not be allowed to go to school.

If I were told I don't have it I would just accept his criticism and go to another Dr. If he/she said the same thing then I would start to doubt myself.

If this Dr. is incompetant, then just ask for another?

As far as I know, a GP is NOT QUALIFIED to diagnose AS or other developmental disorders [DD]. Ed. Psych.'s spend YEARS training to recognise DD's. Crap GP, outta his league... the best way to deal with mental health services are with a professional advocate and a solicitor and a good knowledge of the law...

The reason I don't trust psychologists is that they are as susceptible to making decisions based on whether they like me as anyone else. Anything that requires a person to like me is doomed to failure, no matter how hard I work at to be likable.

It's all just semi-educated guessing anyway.

Good fortune,

Agreed, mental health services are useless for spectrum stuff, have asked the gp if they could refer to someone who has experience in the ASD/developmental side?
or,would parents even consider paying for private assessment?

If have already been diagnosed, and are certain it's correct,it doesn't matter,as the diagnosis is still there anyway, but if haven't been diagnosed and are certain it is as,it could be worth it,specialists with asd on the nhs can be non existant in a lot of places.

I have found WP to be more useful than any psych I've been to. I just wish I could get my prescriptions filled here. :)

In many cases, I agree.

Tip: Doctors are not gods! They are paid a lot of money to follow socially accepted medical standards. They are humans just trying to live their lives. They make mistakes just like everyone else. Almost all of the informational resources that are available to doctors are available to you TOO! Learn from them, but never accept anything a doctor says as a fact! Always double check! Sometimes triple and quadruple check!! !

Thanks everyone. My doctor is incompetent because he has refuted everything TWO CONSULTANT PSYCHIATRISTS have said about me before, when all he is is an associate specialist. He thinks he's so clever, that is the problem. I know my problem. When I go off my meds, I go schizo. Simple. He wants me off my meds in the summer. This will be messy.

Why do you see this as a personal attack?
If the doctor doesn't think so, then he doesn't think so.

Just tell him about your experience with your meds. If he doesn't comply, it is MAL PRACTICE! Do what you can to stay on them.
