Even now with the worst of my AS symptoms under control the one thing that can set me off almost everytime is food. When I say "food" I mean the fear that somehow I won't get any or find anything I like. This happens most often when trying new resturants... if they serve any of my usuals I'm good, but if I don't immediately find something I know I like on the menu I start to freak. This can also happen at home when my dad and two sisters want some type of alfredo dinner... I DO NOT LIKE ALFREDO plain and simple I don't like the flavor... that goes for any alfredo, I've tried it I don't like it, but they don't seem to accept that fact (prolly because I like most other pasta dishes). Thankfully, my mom will usually stand up for me and suggest we have something I will eat too, especially now when I'm not home that often and when I am home I kind of expect to eat better than I do at school.

Anyway, just wondering if pickiness or other food related things cause fear/panic for anyone else here.

I'm like that at restaurants, too. And because I am vegan, it makes my choices even more limited and most of the time I will just end up having a glass of orange juice from the restaurant.
At home, I don't really have a choice about what to eat. I have to eat what i'm given or starve, it's plain and simple.....and I DON'T want to starve!

I'm not vegan, but otherwise brittany might as well be describing ME! I used to always eat before a meal at another restaurant or meeting where "food is provided".

Bon Appetit topic

I have gone hungry before so I am not that fussy but of course some people like some foods better than others. Perhaps you could go to a restaurant that serves the type of food you like (lots of variety out there) or if someone invites you, you could order just a small portion of the least disliked food and nibble at it (I have seen NTs do this).

Some foods I will just not touch (shrimp, lobster, thai, hot/spicy, clams, oysters, sushi, to name a few) no matter what. They happen to be foods of other cultures. I hope I will never offend anyone in the future.

I'm a very picky eater. Often I don't feel in the mood for any kinds of food, so it's frustrating when I have to pick something or starve.
Tomato soup, potatoes, vegemite toast, and chocolate and lollies are foods I can get "obsessive" over, as in I won't eat much else. For example I often go through phases where I'll constantly eat tomato soup (with plain toast) for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I could live off breakfast cereal, hamburgers (plain of course), french fries (or southern stlye fried potatos), pasta, and pizza. I will eat other things but those are my "usuals". I also LOVE sweet corn (we grow it fresh every summer... yummm!), I will eat green beans (as long as they are cooked so they are soft same with carrots). Love the flavor of fruit but can't stand the texture. Maui Gold pinapples straight from Hawaii are melt in your mouth good, but I was disapointed to find that normal pinapple isn't as texture-free as High quality hawain fruit (parents brought some back after a trip that how I tried it). These are just a few of my favorite things... (da da da da da da da da da da)... well g2g.

When I was a kid, I didn't like the extras on hamburgers. Mine were always plain. I didn't even like the pickle on White Castle burgers.

I can eat almost anything these days, except for the mustard some places use. It upsets my stomach.

Try eating a minimal processed food diet, low sodium, no corn syrups (especially high fructose corn syrups), and no gluten. And then going to a restaurant 8O

sounds like you're really into starches..;) It's not surprising, they boost your seratonin levels, which is why they call them 'comfort foods'. You wind up feeling better.

I'm picky but not picky..;) There's cookbooks full of things I won't eat, but I usually can manage to find something on the menu I'll eat.

I'll eat your alfredo...I love it...;)

anyone eat at waffle house? i walked into waffle house 2 weeks ago and they had changed their menu two days before (and i mean big change). now i eat the exact same thing every time i go ... large bowl of grits, with hashbrowns scattered smoothered covered chunked and topped... with a large orange juice and water. i swear it took me 20 minutes to order my meal, simply because i was distracted by the change in the menu.

And ooo i am hungry... i forget to eat all the time... my normals are campbells tomato soup (1/2 water 1/2 milk), PBJ made w/ bunny bread polaner all-fruit and peter pan creamy, cinnamon toasters (the cheap cinnamon toast crunch from wallie world), Zephyrhills water, gatorade ice punch, and any juice i drink must be not from concentrate, oh and apple sauce sweeted with apple juice. and i make eggs and salsa, or tostitos and cheese

Used to be such a fussy eater as a child that my parents made me take appetite pills. End result being that I felt ravenously hungry all the time but still no matter what I ate, I didn't gain a single pound. Plus, they tried sneaking medicine in orange juice, which meant that for 20 years I would not drink the stuff. They also fed me scrambled eggs right after giving me one of the pills, so that ... you guessed it ... for 20 years I shied away from eggs, except for hardboiled (colored Easter eggs were cool).

My first job ended up being, strangely enough, group home supervisor for the developmentally disabled. Since it was my job to supervise people while they were cooking as well as plan menus with the help of a nutritionist, I learned to eat and enjoy quite a good variety of foods.

Sometimes I think God has a sense of humor ... and wow, am I grateful. I went from cooking only a handful of favorite foods to preparing gourmet meals and baking as almost a minor hobby.

I hate onions! I will touch nothing that has touched an onion! Even the smell of onions makes me sick. I also refuse to eat turkey.

I have that same issue. I will not eat any pasta that has a white sauce. I refuse to do so.

I'm not very picky about food. Thankfully.

My sister is, to the detriment of her health. She says that fruits and vegetables make her gag. She drinks soda like water and eats nothing but junk. She thinks pepperoni pizza is a health food, all the food groups in one. Image I'm not sure if she's being honest or just making excuses, it's not doing her any good either way, but there's nothing I can do about it.
