I have been pushed out (given crap assignments) of many jobs because my boss thought I wanted his/her job (not true). I can't figure out how to dumb down my performance and problem solving skills (I.Q. 187). Any advise on how to act around NT's.

Don't dress better than them, don't drive a better car or live in a better area or have a better looking partner. Act dumb I guess.

Stop listening carefully to instructions and go around all the time with "Huh?" on your lips and facial expression.

That kind of stuff really pisses me off. It probably isn't worth working for those kinds of people. F*** em.

Use incorrect english..."forget" how to solve problems...i'm sure you'll "fit in" then
In all seriousness, the bosses you have had sound like complete idiots to think that you want their job in the first place.

Given your immense IQ, I am curious as to why you have such a menial job in the first place.

yes, I found the office politics there absolutely savage (as a student). It is a paranoid environment, maybe because the egos are so huge in academia. They are very easily threatened by genuinely bright people and promotion is all about sucking up (in more than one way) to the right person.

Insecure people, by or as, tend to be paribouf about loosing things they value. Unfortunately, acting dumb will oronly create you a whole new set of work problems. My best advice is do your job well and let others worry about their insecuritys and hope and pray they leave you put of their problems. Sorry I couldn't do better than that.

For the record, I LIKE people that are smarter than I am, and hope they like me. I even cut them some slack if they make stupid mistakes, or act stupid. It is ones that are a lot dumber than I am and THINK they are smarter, or working far beyond their ability, and/or act like the ones you talk about, that I hate.

A 187 IQ IS quite high though, and you probably should try to keep your vocabulary down to relatively common words, not refer to a lot of theories, etc..., and not be too quick to voice opinions or solutions.

Keep their mirrors nice and dusty, they don't want to see themselves the way you see them, they want you to confirm their high opinion of themselves.

What is a NT? There is no scientific proof of the existance of such a thing or entity. How is there basis for your claim then? It seems it's all imagnings and feelings based on conditionings and trapped cycles of patternings that have no way of expressing themselves only through surmisings and guesswork. So - no there is no such thing. what you are experiencing is not a GROUP thing. It is an individualistic occurance that you must sort out. Or not. Free will, you know..

You're not the only one that's had that problem.

I've left or been "forced" to leave 3 jobs to date because somebody in management didn't like the fact that I could run rings around them intelectually.

My first job (supervisor for a well-known grocery chain) I left, because even after proving myself extremely capable of not only doing the job, but finding more effecient ways of doing it, the store manager didn't like the fact that I knew his computer systems better than he did.
He kept cutting back my hours and doing as much as possible to keep me out of the office (where I'm supposed to be) because he was afraid I'd "mess up" the computer system. (BTW, I was the one keeping it functioning properly. After I left, the systems started failing left and right, because nobody knew how to maintain them. Heh. Poetic justice. )

Same basic problem (although the stories are different) with two other positions at certain major electronics retailers, and even one as a secritarial position. :wall:

I'd love to get a job doing true tech support or system building, but there's nothing like that available up here in Vermont, so I'm forced to get by on menial retail jobs, despite the fact that I'm more than capable of more challenging jobs (IQ 147).

Oh well.

Oh well, Tech support would DRIVE YOU NUTS! It is ASTOUNDING the idiots that call. The only dumber people are the people that are usually in "tech support" itself.

Frankly, I am surprised they don't replace it with a 100% automated system. I mean they don't use ANY logic, and go through a script, so WHY pay some idiot to do the job? Still, they DO realize it can be ANY idiot, so they hire people from overseas that don't even know what the product is for, let alone how to use it.
