Movie Hitch had something in it that made me think
I saw that movie Hitch over the weekend. At one point Will Smith says the 60% of commucation is body languge, 30% vocal tone, how you say it and only 10% is what you accually say.
I think thats what people with AS have trouble with, we totally miss the body languge and tone and can only focus on what is accually said. I know I have had issues with this in past relationships.

you stumbled on somthing I have based my working life on!
I talk to people on the phone for a living, I have for years just because I don't have to deal with body language! I have honed my tone of voice, my words only to work with those people. It works because the person on the other end can not rely on body language or facial expressions to get a point across and so is forced to SAY it in WORDS. Words I know, so I can investigate, ask probing questions and get results easily (and quickly!)
I wish you all the best with this info, and hope you can integrate it into your life for a much easier ride!
Merle
