anyone else who have autism/aspergers also have really bad artheritis? or there muscles very weak like all day. my body seems to be in pain all day and even my fingers become numb anyone know if this is part of autism/ or a co-morpid condition. i seem to have to take like 4-6 pain killers a day to get any comfort at all.

I believ there may be a connection in that both "may" be an immune response.I also have IBS,my sis has fibromialga and BF has MS....all immune function disorders.I think the central nerviouse system and brain are very vulnerable to these immune system disruption(over activity).Just a theory.I also have very achy joints(some swollen)but this did not develop until I hit my late 30's and may also be do to a life time of slam dancing, obsessive biking and manuel labor...(I do tend to grip things to hard). My under sensitivity to pain probably caused me to push my body with out realizing it(I did notice a lot of co-wrkers did not seem to be working as hard as I was, soooo)perhaps we push our bodies to hard? Then there is also a clummsiness factor. How many times can you bump your shoulder against the walls and knees against a table before their is damage.

Lastly(lol...having a wordy day),some aspies are prone to sedentary life style...video gaming/compter marathons(carpel tunnel)do not keep joints flexable and if y add an ability to know when you are thirsty, many maybe dehydrated...bad for joints.

Sorry your in pain. You could try yoga, increasing your fluids, some of the over the counter cartiledge products?I'm lucky.I feel the pain but it doesn't bother me to much(under-sensitive to it).

I do as well, and am currently seeking help from a rheumatologist.

Try T'ai Ch'i. Much the same as yoga, but easy on the joints, and doesn't require as much flexibility as yoga

I don't have arthritis, but have severe neuropathic pain of various sorts (both something overall, and trigeminal neuralgia)) and joint pain (from BJHS) and some kind of spasms on one side of my neck as well as a neck without the proper curvature. Numbness would either be a circulatory or neurological problem.

Yep.... put it this way... the saying on your birthday is blow out the candles and get a wish... for as long as I can remember my wish has been to have just one day without pain.

2 years ago I went in to get help as it had gotten overwhelming... after about 3 months of tests... they still had no clue exactly what it was but settled on dermatomyositis... some fun things from the tests... one doctor commented... I have more scares then anyone she has ever seen... (comes from being very clumsy and running into/over/through everything and everything) and when testing my muscles and joints for inflammation... "My god, I've never known anyone to be conscious and have anywhere near this level of inflammation."

So yea... I understand all about every day pain. :(

I dropped gluten from my diet and it helped with one aspect of the pain but not all. I'm also on a daily dose of steriods to keep the inflammation down somewhat and this helps a little but the side effects are nar fun.
