------------------------------------------------------------------------
im going

im disappointed in the lack of support for people with specialized needs on this forum

there are people here who have repeatedly stated that certain posters are aggravating and confusing them in their topics and nothing is being done

this site was at one time when i first started lurking here a place which offered quite a lot of support to people

its now become a place full of blithe humor in the face of serious subjects, petty rivalries, an overabundance of politics and has lost its human touch

what i hope my resignation will bring attention to is the need for this forum to redirect itself in a serious direction

people come here to get away from the stresses and excesses of the outside world and they need a friendly warm community

posters like neanthumain and yupa to name just two of the foremost who come to my mind constantly write replies to threads which incite argument and blatantly challenge the author of the thread

some people want this site to be a place to rant about their ideas but i hope you dont let them win try and keep the sites integrity and be vigilant in removing elements who are stirring up hatred and aggression

there needs to be emphasis placed on maintaining a serious helpful site that isnt bogged with arrogant characters and big egos and that most importantly is about offering a suitable environment for those who have serious issues to talk about and need them to be treated sensitively

yours faithfully

galatea

Thank you for pointing out what I have been noticing.

I joined in March 20th, 2005. When I joined
this site had less than 1000 members. And as
such, bloodletting and expressing the deeper
the darker thoughts of autism that needed airing
were able to be expressed.

As I evolved in this site, the newer members
wanted a toned down version and quieter
tone of dialogue. I do not call this version
of Wrong Planet that is current the one I joined
as well.

The levels of censorship, ego, and politcs has
even consumed me to the point of lossing the
purpose of this site and make myself a ghost
of a past site quality dream.

I had to this ghosting to be self preserving.
I agree with you Galetea that WrongPlanet is
nolonger a healing and cleansing site.

too bad the current members of member 1001-2000
in joining rank, have made it too PG13 and
ineffective like a Sci-Fi con. I may seem also,
but that is because i would not have been able
to heal in this type of envirement.

Again, i agree. There are others like me
who would bypass this next generation W.P
as fluff. You folks may think I am critical,
but you (not all) don't seem to understand that
deep cleansing reaches roots and this next-gen
WrongPlanet is not a place for healing inward,
just outward sci-fi con fluff that is surface level.
So judge me as you will, this is why I no longer
post here much.

You want surface level fluff(PG13) then so be it,
too bad others who need deep cleansing to reach
surface cleansing will not benefit from this site.

So I stand guilty in the next-gen version of this site
as one of the arogant ones. And that is why I am
being a ghost here on w.p to regain my true being,
not the thing that W.P next-gen has become.

[quote="sorry for offending you folks"]
Truth be truth and the reality is the W.P that I knew
that allowed deep healing to lead to surface
communication has gone the way of Sci-fi con
politics. Hate if you will.....Sorry! just stating
my observations on why I am a ghost here.

Can I be on both sides? There is definate need for areas where aspies can be aspies, can get and give advice and most important can feel they are appreciated and safe. There is also a need for an area where we can be boisterous and it doesn't really matter if non aspies are there. Where else would I be able to express my views and commit all my gaffes and have people accept that there is no intention to be rude, just a lack of skill at not being rude? The need for aspie aspects is very real though, without it turning into a joke column.

To all,

The original poster in this thread is an imposter. This person who has made this post has made other posts insulting other users and vadilizing their avitars. We the mods are on the trail of this person as I speak.

In the meantime, this thread will be kept open because it looks like a topic others wish to discuss. I do suggest that it is kept civil however as we the mods will be watching this closely.

Thank You

Obviously I haven't been here too long, so I can't speak for how the board "used to be". But from what I've seen, this board has a very good balance between "support" and "expressing the deeper and darker thoughts of autism".

This isn't a public service; it's a privately owned and privately run website. It's one thing to suggest improvements, but to start demanding support just takes the piss really.

I have posted a bit on this subject in the other thread but I have a few more thoughts. Please don't take this the wrong way as I am not talking specifically about WrongPlanet.

I usually don't find any public therapy/support forums all that helpful. There is useful information but it's often hard to find. More often than not I find boards like this depressing as there are a lot of complaints and rarely any solutions. There is support in the form of "me too" responses but not much useful information which is what I would rather have. I definitely don't want to stay and around just listen to how bad everyone has it as I'm trying to solve problems not just complain about them. I don't mind people complaining, I just wish there were more answers or hints or something. I usually hang out on a board for a few days or weeks then leave for months at a time. I come back, but only because I'm never able to find anything better.

Part of the problem is that even trained professionals often have no idea what they are talking about and give out bad advice or just don't have any answers. We need more people that have gone through similar problems and figured out real solutions, techniques, or whatever help eliminate or mitigate the issue(s). I believe AS/HFA people are unique in that they can often provide deep insight into the problems and are capable of finding solutions to them (versus people with depression or something).

I do feel a bit like that, it stops being a board for support
, and becomes a sort of dysfunction soapbox.

Any board that gets past a certain point in numbers is soon off topic perpetually and is nothing but politicals, and religious types with more propagandizing agendas.

Though expecting emotioonal support from aspies is sort of like expecting cuddle time from hermit crabs............

I probably agree with approx 100% of that, BUT, emerging from depression that lasted too long (thanks to being undx'd they just upped the meds and then wondered why I wasn't singing from the rooftops as it reached ridiculous levels), now got that sorted out. All my eccentricities and desire to be away from people that were really reinforced during that have left me isolated and with "strange" opinions. It might sound totally in line for me, but crazy for anyone else, but the forums here are a better way back into life than chatting at bus stops or whatever. If most of the rough edges are smoothed a bit and I get a better idea of what everyone else is thinking thats good, isn't it?
The people at the autistic society are good, but I'm really just starting to get back to people and the politicals, religious and the propagandizing is what I need to orientate myself. Looking at the previous posts I'm on everyones side, they are all valid and depend on your feelings/needs. I just wish there was a simple way to cater for everyone, but I've got no answers.
