I found progressive muscular relaxation (PMR) very helpful and mindfulness moderately helpful, both provided by the local outpatient service. Both can be continued at home with or without tapes / CDs.

I did trying meditation in the form of following my breath but did not find that particularly helpful so I dropped it and used to the time for my hobbies instead lol.

I actually found aerobics or dancing to be more stress reducing than meditation though, especially when I managed not to trip over the furniture lololol.

For me its relaxing then letting my daydreams take over becoming lost in my own mind. Sometimes I feel more revigerated after doing this its just having a good nights sleep.
