High Functioning Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome Questionnaires

Stoke on Trent City Council and North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust have published a questionnaire to identify the presence and views of people aged 14 years or over, or the views of their carers, who live with High Functioning Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome.

Autism spectrum disorders are lifelong developmental disabilities that affect the way a person communicates and relates to people around them. People with autism spectrum disorders have difficulties with everyday social interaction including accessing further education, housing, jobs or benefits. The aim of the Livingstone Project is to identify numbers of people with this condition. This will allow services to assess the needs and support that is required.

The high priority at this stage is for people to register. HFA and AS are some of the most hidden disabilities and often remain undetected and without support from statutory services. This is now being recognised by health and social care services through this evaluation.

People are needed to fill in the Questionnaire the more people that fill it in the better chance of getting things done. I hope many people will take part has not many people have fill in so far and it's needed to get the ball rolling.

You'd probably get a better response posting on British based boards like www.aspievillage.org.uk and www.asd-forum.org.uk
