Okay...there is this thing i do...on stairs..or on a bed..

I'll sit on them/it for a few minutes, and then i'll start jiggling my hands..and something happens.

Its like a movie playing in my head...i can see characters in stories that i've made up,and things they'll do....again,all like a seamless movie..this sounds very crazy..but then there is the fact that i know where i am,and i never travel from my spot on the stairs or the bed..i am aware of the fact that i'm not really anywhere the characters are,In fact they don't even know i exist.

and i can control everything these people do,what they look like,ETC,just i HAVE to be moving, and, despite the fact i know how to avoid obstacles where ever i may be while doing this, i don't know if anyone is watching me.

am i crazy?

or wht?

That sounds quite similar to what I do, except I do it standing up, usually in either the guest bedroom in my house or the bathroom. When I do it I usually begin hand flapping, but if I don't hand flap I can not fully reach the "world" my mind is creating.

You have a severe, incurable disorder that effects about three in one hundred Americans. You have a Vivid Imagination.

Have you considered writing fiction?

Some people experiencing catatonia describe something similar to what you're describing:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catatonia

EDIT: I don't remember where I read one patient describing a very vivid imagination during her catatonic states.

Does it happen often?

I have wondered about hand flapping. Modulating antenna? It does seem to link to the thought process, but being something "Those People" do it has not been studied. I do it while typing, it keeps the story flowing.

Considering how much of the brain is given to the hands, some connection seems possible.

I think you are on to something, and a How To book is in order. No one seems to notice that Yoga and LFA share traits. Keyboarding is indeed a form of hand flapping. Very non-creative in verbal types write great things.

Beggining hand flapping, hand flapping exercises, hand flapping and the musical keyboard, qwerty flapping. Advanced hand flapping and visualization.

Dr. DeMoluca's Guide to Creative Neurological Enhancement.

We will never be accepted as long as we are different, we cannot change, but they could be taught how, and they do believe in self help books. Most have no knowledge of Autism, so they would buy the Handflapping as a Creative Aid story from the Guru of Kinetic Creative Process, Dr. DeMuca.

When in doubt, Market It!

Wear an antenna and you could take the aliens over. That'll teach them.

I agree with MissPickwickian. Write down your stories before somone cures your imagination.

I don't think thats it,but yes, it does. The thing is that i can control wear i go.and who is there.

*nod nod*

thank you for the article, though,it does help me out,if not completely.

Blah.fiction isn't for me.i don't like other people mis-interpreting what i'm saying and imagining the characters looking different then how i "see" them.COMICS are the way for me!

kind of like me...only now i don't have to do as much...all i have to do is want to go to wherever, then do any random movement and BOOM!

doesnt sound too crazy. Sounds like a flight of fancy. Its nice you can escape the world like that. I know i usually enjoy letting my mind wander into scenes. I find i reiterate scenes over and over until i am satisfied with the story. go with it, man go.

I understand, but I do many more movements than just hand flapping, it usually just begins with hand flapping. Often it leads to my entire body moving, or "convulsing" (though I don't think that is the best word to describe it, since if I want to stop I can do so easily). When I finish, sometimes my face and body may be reddish, a little sweaty, and I will have a high heartbeat. I have actually learned a decent amount of control over it, and I can limit the movements if I want. (Though as I said before, I cannot completely stop them) It is kind of odd, but by doing this, even though I am only standing on one spot, I can willfully cause my heartbeat to rise based off of what I think or imagine.

Yes, I've done this my entire life. Pretty much exactly as you describe, except that I will generally pace rather than handflap. The images that I have are usually connected to my current obsession. So, for instance, when I was obsessed with Dusty Springfield, I would run scenes of a film of her life through my head, constantly scripting, editing and repeating it. I always felt much more connected with the film inside my head than I did with the outside world. Whenever I walked anywhere it would start up again, and I would be able to pay enough attention to my surroundings that I didn't bump into anything or get hit by a car, but the main focus of attention would be inside my head. This does have the unfortunate side effect that I get lost easily, because I'm not really paying attention to my surroundings!

NTs would like to say that everyone does it because they wish they had that clarity. Instead, embrace the moment. I've done it since I can remember; along the the hand flapping and movement. Of course, I've learned to not do it around anyone else (although I sometimes slip when too stressed). Over time I've recognized it as my way to recuperate after a meltdown or other stress.

There's nothing wrong with being crazy. Crazy people can be amazing.
