Parents in a technical field of work?

Did/ does either or both of your parents hold a job (including self employed) in a technical field, i.e. mechanic, engineer, computers, researcher, scientist, science/math teacher or professor, repair person, etc.?

My father was a researcher in chemistry (retired), my mother's job was never technical, but her sister is a scientist.

Nope. Both my parents are professional musicians and I'm following that path but am also a total Apple and Linux nerd. XD

I wanted to add the option of musician but thought that would make it too complicated! It does seem a lot of aspies have technical professions and musical talent in their background.

My dad is an engineer and is extremely technical and procedural in thought and action. In his later work he did sales + engineering (design a system for a problem to sell it to the customer) but his approach is still very technical no matter if his title is "salesman".

My mom was a stay at home mom, before that a very unhappy teacher, she is borderline obsessive about calligraphy, handwriting, and grammer... I consider her to be very technical compared to her "peers".

Wired has had a few articles displaying the higher rate of spectrum children to technical parents.

Nope. My mom is the manager/head bartender of a bar and my dad works in a sugar-beet processing plant at a computer terminal operating the machine that squeezes the juice out of the beets.

Nope. My mom's a CPA and my dad's a CEO.

My father is a scientist and my mother's career was in graphic design.

Yes, my mother is a teacher. Is banking a technical field? Cause my dad is a banker.

My mom's been a secretary, teacher's assistant, and had her own computer repair business for a time. My dad went to university to become an accountant but got hired by some company associated with Apple, and then quit and became a self-employed computer technician. They both prefer working alone/being their own boss, it seems.

Dad builds elevators, mom teaches elementary school.

Both my parents are, although in very different fields I think and although they're as opposite as day and night. One disorderly antisocial, one ADD/AS-type. I don't think that there is much of a connection to my autism concerning their choice of career. That would be truly weird.

My dad worked for IBM, but I can't really say he was technical...ended up working HR at some point...hmmm...my mom never worked...she did major in both art and science in college...Both my uncles, one of which I truly believe is an Aspie, worked in technical fields...Both my brother and I work in technical fields...My brother and I get along the LEAST...he is ok with my sister, I am ok with my sister...him and I are ok talking about tech stuff, but we don't really click...I think he's an Aspie and can't see it...
