Like the smell topic, it reminded me of what I did yesterday.

I was in a team meeting at work, and there was a cardboard box next to me that had a weird pattern on it. I had the inexplicable urge to bite it to see what it would feel like between my teeth. So I did.

I realised that I sometimes have the urge to bite things like couches, not to really bite bite them but just to see what it would feel like between my teeth, like the texture and firmness.

Does anyone else get this urge?

I, too, have this urge.

Sometimes, it may be the pattern that gives me the urge. At other times, if it feels nice in my fingers to play with, I might feel that I must bite it. The urge is so strong sometimes that I cannot think without biting it; my thoughts stay on the thing I have to bite, no matter how hard I try to ignore it.

I also get urges to bite things too. And licking if they are a blood red color. I like to see how hard it is. And I have a habit of biting pencils and my fingers. I like biting small things that aren't all soft or cloth, just harder things. I dont bite very hard though. -Power Girl

I often get the urge to bite things that have a somewhat squishy consistency. When I was at a cadaver lab for school the other day, my classmates and I were passing around and examining human organs. When I got hold of the heart, I got the urge to sink my teeth into it :? !

Yes. I don't go around biting large objects like couches but I mouth and bite a lot of smaller non-food items. I have enough self-control not to do it in public. Paper, wooden popsicle sticks, bits of string, and pieces of plastic or rubber... mostly. I also bite the end of pens, but not enough to ruin how the pen looks. If it has a little stopper on the end, I like to force it out and play with it in my mouth. How embarrassing to say it... does anybody else do it to this extent? I like gum, but frankly it's a little different and doesn't replace the other textures.

I don't do this infrequently, either. This is quite the obsession.

When I was a child I had this urge. I bit my arms and hands, and wanted to bite other strange things. I never understood this and when one day I read about an autistic child who wouldn't stop biting his arms, it was one of those "" moments.

HA!

I love picking the end off pens and then fiddling with them in my teeth. Though when I bite my pens and pencils i usually leave marks.

I got pierced in my labret (just below the centre of your bottom lip) and i play with it all the time. It has seemed to lessen my obsession for biting my cheeks and other things for now.

It is definately an obsession for me too. As I said, I did it in a team meeting, I just had the urge and did it. Noone even noticed, if they did, they didn't say anything! hehe

Sometimes I feel like clenching down on something, biting down hard. Plastic or something similar.

I used to do that a lot when I was a kid. My parents "cured" me of it. But I was a biter/mouther long enough to know that soap tastes bad even if it smells good, metal tastes good (especially door knobs), and the best of all is water from a garden hose because it has that wonderful plasticky taste.

Today I just bite pens, finger nails, popsicles sticks, silverware . . . You know, the normal stuff.

No plastic straw or popsicle stick is safe in my presence.
