Do you have problems taking pride in anything ?

It seems to me that most NTs are able to embrace a healthy sense of
pride in many aspects of their lives.This not only gives them motivation
but also topics of conversation.They take pride in their personality,
appearance,partners,children,achievements,possessions,social life
and so on.
I on the other hand have always had a problem with pride because I
grew up believing it was a sin and that 'pride comes before a fall'.
(Living a relatively sheltered childhood in a Calvinistic society doesn't help ! )
Perhaps this is an aspect of AS,similar to having a problem in
taking compliments ?
Of course,it could be I'm just jealous that I don't have as many things
to feel proud of at the moment

I do not take pride in anything simply because i feel I haven't accomplished anything to be proud of.

I'm not really passionate about things, so I too have problems taking pride in things...

Actually I've met very few NTs who take pride in what they do due to healthy self-esteem. Most are either arrogant or severely lacking in that department. They're just reletivley good at covering their issues up, but scrutiny will usually show loads or inner problems and weaknesses.

I can never take pride in anything that I'm not THE BEST at, so I very rarely feel proud.

I had to memorize this verse in Sunday School:

Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

It kind of reinforced the whole perfectionism, nothing I've done is worthwhile thing.

I wouldn't say "pride" when describing my accomplishments. I am happy when I meet my goals and get good results. If my results are mediocre or below my usual standard, I don't believe there is anything to be proud of.

I can't feel pride either.. And I wasn't fed the christian bs..

I didn't know that problems with accepting compliments is an Aspie-issue

My dad (NT) says pride is the thing that allows people to be in the same room as one another without having conflict.

Exact opposite. I take pride in everything I do. I don't believe in doing anything half-assed, and despise people who do.

yeah..I'm worried they'll go 'well, we want that sort of effort all the time'... I get embarrassed by praise. I get lots of it at work, but I'm more interested in what I'm doing wrong....

This was the kind of answer I would have given to the topic title, but after reading the first post, I think pluto was asking if we have problems being proud of our respective accomplishments.

I always try to do everything correctly and completely.

But I am rarely proud of something I have done, unless it is a unique accomplishment. And often when people offer praise it seems to be for actions which don't seem to deserve praise.

I take pride in the fact that I take pride in myself, and that others take pride in my pride and vice-versa. It still makes me proud to this day.

pride is often quite inappropriate.

In high school I had problems admitting I took pride in anything because I didn't want to be seen as arrogant even on one occasion.
