Does anyone know what's going on with it? Awhile ago, they removed the trailer from the site. Now the website itself is down.

I heard on IMDB that they are looking for domestic distributors, and have a few possible deals in the works.

But, as far as I know, this is all rumor and conjecture. In my opinion it's not looking like a good situation. Which is too bad because me and you and many others were really looking forward to seeing this movie on the big-screen. Putting it directly to DVD will cause a lot of people to miss this movie . . . and "getting the word out" about AS was one thing I wanted this movie to accomplish.

This will have it's good and bad points though i agree that overall it is best so we recieve more recognition and maybe even more understanding. It reminds me though of how every time that Rocky movie shows on the television, suddenly the my local gym gets far busier for a session or two until Rocky comes on the telly.

I wonder if there will be some people that are just a little shy or something suddenly self-diagnosing themselves with aspergers and rushing to join wp etc if the movie is a hit and the aspie community gets a lot of positive publicity.

I think those who would fake it are confused and searching for the comfort of a lable to hide behing. So they might pop up and stay here for a while, until they read about some personality disorder or social phobia and then jump on that bandwagon, leaving us.

Getting the word out, yes...

But has anyone considered how cool this movie would be to take a date on???????? :P

I really do want it to hit theaters. Really really really. I want to see it as soon as I can; I like very close to a theater. I also live very close to a video rental store- man, I just want to SEE this thing.

I agree, it would be a real shame if it didn't make theatres. My thought on publicity though; I think the best thing it could do is stir up an AS frenzy. Yeah, that sounds like it would really really suck for quite a while because it would be a carnival of ignorance that we just couldn't get ourselves away from, we'd get criticized much more directly for having AS, have just as many people hate us overnight as the number of people who'd get sickeningly smarmy with us, but guess what - that would be a sure fire way of also knowing that a few years later everyone from the best people out there to the most shallow dips would eventually know the real truth and bottom line about AS (when the media fair image from the beginning became 'uncool' and unpolished).

I guess when I say that I'm looking at the gay rights thing, how that blew up, and where it's at now and really think that the AS thing will probably blow up and simmer down the same way.

i know jerry's unhappy about several things to do with the film.

personally, i ca't wait to see it either. however, as going to the cinema is unlikely for me (can't afford it, often, and have no-one to go with), i'll have to wait for the DVD or for a good samaritan to take pity on me.

I sort of had a feeling this film would bypass the theatres.
It just seems like we are the only real target audience.

I'm kind of ambivalent about the publicity. With the way autism seems to be increasing, I think public knowledge is only a matter of time.

Not sure what this will mean though. Probably like with ADD, a lot of people will write it off as another phony "disorder."
It will be quite interesting to see how things change over the next 10 years or so. :?

From what I've seen, it's happening already, although probably not on the same scale as with ADD.

As for the issue of the movie causing people to jump the gun and diagnose themselves - I don't know. I have a feeling that most people would have the sense to see a counselor before making such a conclusion.

How about if this movie becomes sort of one of those Sundance, indie movies.
First it goes on DVD, but in theatres in Norway (cos the norwegian director is like soo famous in Norway) and then it gets released later in theatres coz it just got so popular. Kinda like Donnie darko or something....

I'd hope that at least happens if nothing else because this would do much more for NT's than us. We kinda need this film to get AS out there more.
