after my last appointment with my psych i know i wont get a def diagnosis, not for a long time =_=.

She told me the tests you take for that can cost $100 of dollars and she doesnt recomend that as of yet, because of all my variying simptoms fall under ocd and add as well as schitzophrenia so . . . =_= im bummed out. How many ppl here think the cost for stuff like that should be a lot less?

I mean really taking a test on a piece of paper and taking to a few specialists shouldnt cost hundreds of dollars

You must live in the US. That's insane. I didn't have to pay for anything. There was a fee for the writeup but the psychiatrist waived it because she knew I was broke (and then refused to cash my cheque when I had the money a year or two later).

When I first went for diagnosis, I went to my university's SSDS, who told me that they could test me, but it would cost $1000. (Excuse me? I pay hundreds of dollars in service fees, so that you can charge me when I need you?) Needless to say, I declined. That's ridiculous money to expect from a student (!) who has a disability (!) and already funds the service with fees every semester (!).

Instead I got a referral from a campus clinic GP (who went through the Gilberg and DSM criteria to decide if she thought it was worth investigating) to a psychiatrist, who was free (due to student health services and insurance) and was able to give me a diagnosis and way more help than SSDS ever offered.

She said that normally that is a diagnosis that you get from a reffered party and cound cost hundreds and because she had didnt have enough data so far that points to aspergers she did not recomend I go through that. Its all she said about the subject to me really.
