I'm not because:

1. They're out for the greater good, not for my personal interest. If it's for the greater good they'l let you drown, burn, suffocate, get shot, rot, whatever. They'd probably MAKE you if it's for the greater good.

2. Read #1, then acknowledge that in many places it's illegal for anyone but law enforcement to have guns.

Off and on I'm a paranoid, fear-ruled coward. I used to want to become one of them, law enforcement or military or something, so that I would be better protected. But I wouldn't be better protected as one of them (as far as I know), so I'm not.

I appreciate them as a group and all the risks they have to take, life-threatening ones sometimes, and all that. I love them. I just don't trust them completely. It's not their fault.

I'd say I'm watchful, but not paranoid.

I have a set of moral and ethical beliefs that I will not compromise on. As long as authority doesn't conflict (which is almost always the case) with those morals and ethics everything is fine. Otherwise I am very capable of showing my disgust for said authority. I have only been forced to do this once, and it was certainly the right course of action.

Fear of authority figures is something I've struggled with my whole life. Over the past few years, I've made a lot of progress, to the point where I can actually talk to an authority figure without trembling and feeling like I'm going to pass out. I used to get really intense anxiety around any authority figure, no matter who they were.

One winter, I worked a temporary job at a record store. My boss there was a cute guy with good taste in music and he seemed to like me. He was really nice to me and even flirted with me in a friendly, non-threatening kind of way. Unfortunately, the fact that he was an authority figure gave me so much anxiety I could barely talk to him. I still think about him and regret ruining the opportunity.

I have a fear of getting in trouble for things I didn't do, which happened to me alot in grade school and middle school. So I suppose I am a bit paranoid around any figures of authority.

I respect authority figures, just as long as they are deserving of their position. If I find they are not worthy of their position, I let them know by openly opposing them.

It depends on the authority. This government we have now, in Britain, is run by lying scumbags who should all be strung up for gross incompetence and corruption.
I would trust the government if it were at all responsible. But it seems that without strong, principled leadership it isn't happening yet. All we have are mediocre asshats who are incapable of running a supermarket, let alone a country. Bring back the competent, dedicated statesmen! Proof that democracy is in no way perfect, either.
I'm not scared of authority.

I would say how I feel about our government here in the US, but they would then come to my house and kill me, my family, and our cat. :pale:

Well, not really, but they have said it's unamerican to question the government.

"They" being Bush groupies.

"Unamerican" is just a broad word to attack dissidents, people who are against the current United States administration. And stupid sheep believe it.

Yep, that is true.

And another thing, I don't see why we can't have socialized medicine. Our government has said it's "propaganda of the red menace." They just don't want to pay doctor's salaries. They don't care about our health, only about how full their pockets are.

I am somewhat distrustful of authority. I have been screwed over by them a few too many times.

I am watchful, not paranoid, (i am an activist).

85-90% of laws are usually good, it's that evil 10% that needs to be taken care of.

My fear and distrust of authority figures is more evolving towards repulsion and disgust.

But, I did have a pleasant encounter with them a few days ago. They're not all bad, but likewise, I wouldn't trust them with my life if necessity dictated either. Like everyone else, they're human. The difference is that for a few misguided reasons and poor logic, the legal system grants them extra privileges and responsibilities that most everyone else doesn't have...

Americans policed themselves just fine when the country was first started. Organized, taxpayer-funded police forces are a construct of the late 19th century, initially used to oppress the labor movement, but they became entrenched into society as a few decades came and went.

My feeling exactly, but it's not against all authority figures. Just a select few. Some aren't even authority figures, as in the sense of 'teacher'.

Yes, I am wary of authority, I can't really trust anyone who has power over me. I have had some bad experiences where I have learned that authority = you will end up being punished for reasons you don't understand and for things that others can get away with.

Scared? Why would I be scared? Distrustful? OH YEAH!

I barely trust authority to do anything right- heh, it's sorta why I started my OWN BUSINESS :D
