Can parents influence the personality of their children?

The easy answer might be yes, but it could be that children's brains are wired like their parents.

I am starting to believe the way I think, and my sense of humor has been influenced by my parents. It could be the main reason I used to be a bore and a dork.

Absolutely.

An extreme example is that parents who physically punish their child for anything and everything wrong, and sometimes for no reason at all the child will be rebellious and ironically lack a moral center (since they only follow rules out of fear). If the parents instead talk the the child on exactly what the child did wrong and why it's so bad, the child will have a very strong moral center and follow rules even when no ones around to catch him.
