We don't know why but asperger's is associated with toutree's syndrome.

mine can be neat when required and never gets that bad, but I realised once that it doesnt look female - compared to other's whose sex was almost always obvious from the handwriting, mine looks more male than female (or somewhere in between).

I don't. Some teachers got worked up about my handwriting just last week, but because it's very narrow not because it's sloppy, even though they say it's sloppy. But it's not, because all letters look pretty much the same, they're just narrow and my writing is left-bound which people usually don't like at all for subconscious reasons.

But...
People with AS can have sloppy handwriting because of motor issues, just like everyone else with fine motor issues and maybe another reason why someone with AS can have sloppy handwriting is because of sensory issues? The latter is a guess, but the first it pretty much fact. There may be other reasons to have sloppy handwriting.

Something funny that may apply too:
Many NT males have worse handwriting than NT females and since more males are diagnosed with AS, more diagnosed people with AS may have sloppy handwriting.

My handwriting is perfectly legible, though I don't write in script and it takes me longer than most people to write (by hand), since I don't do it often at all.

Mine was either sloppy or took me ages of slow work to perform. I ended up developing a system (sort of a cross between printing and cursive) where I don't really have to take my pen off the paper, and this process has let me get a lot faster and neater. However, I notice that I grip the pen extremely hard, perhaps to maintain this control - I have large calluses on my writing fingers that no one else seems to have, and I break leads all the time in pencils. I've been told it's much, much more pressure and grip than anyone else applies.

How can you make such a general statement?

I have beautiful handwriting and won an award in the fifth grade because of it...there are plenty of neurotypicals who have sloppy handwriting too.

I have nice handwriting, full of elegant loops. Many people compliment it.

My handwriting is basically horrid unless i concentrate on it. I hold my pencil "wrong" and am left handed taught by right handers, that may be a big part of my problem there. I can write "pretty" but it is time consuming and takes way too much concentration to be "pretty" often.

I beg to differ, my handwriting is splendiferous. I don't want to brag but I've had teachers and ppl compliment me on papers that were handwritten. I've also gotten into the art of scribing in caligraphy.

What makes you think aspies have bad handwriting?

My handwriting is fine when I write slowly. Having been raised outside my country, I write mostly in print, where most people were taught to write in a cursivey type.

As for my handwriting, let me put it this way, my non-dominant hand is more legible than my dominant . . .
