Now I know why Aspies hate changing from one task to another

The transition is too understimulating.

Aspies are smart and need more stimulation than others.

For example, John is an Aspie and totally engaged in playing Warcraft. He doesn't want to go eat because the intermission between getting stimulated by Warcraft and getting stimulated by eating is too boring and understimulating for them to handle. Where you have to wash up and go to the kitchen and sit down and start eating, maybe have to stop to talk to people besides. John isn't getting stimulated while he has to be going those things, between getting stimulated by Warcraft and getting stimulated by eating. He'd rather just continue playing Warcraft, though he loves eating just as much as playing Warcraft.

It's like in some states, where they test your IQ and if your IQ is too high they won't let you become a cop, because you would get bored driving around with no action.

I think that they should have done IQ testing in the college programme that I was in. They would have found out how intelligent I am, and put me into a more suited workplace, for my average to above IQ.

that would be the elitest way of looking at it, i guess.
and a great justification if you ever want to get out of having to work at it.

'you need to try to branch out.'
'walking three yards is too boring for my brilliant mind!'

i do not think intelligence has anything to do with the transition issue. at all.

And when depressed, aspies (and all people) do not seek more stimulating tasks.

And unfortunatly depression is a common co-morbid.

Change is all the same topic

Well. Ana, we do like to finish what we start, and we do hyper focus on tasks. I know my thinking is slow, and I need to follow steps. Mental bookmarks are annoying. I find multitasking to be overwhelming and induces panic attacks. Finishing the task at hand is important, and when others let me do this, I thank them for their patience. Then I can give them the undivided attention their needs require.

Good topic.
