Pet Peeve: Large Masses of Black Electrical Wires and cable
At home, my difficulties can be a variety of different issues. In addition to always loosing things, or tripping over things and general clumsiness, one of my main pet peeves is Large Masses of Black, Tangled Wire...
O.K... you might ask.. What does that mean?? Well, invariably when I need to get my headphones, their black wires are entangled in several other devices' black tangled wires.. EVERY TIME!! It's maddening.. I can't say how many headphones I've destroyed, impatiently ripping at them to get them untangled... If it's not headphones, it's other devices, like the wires for my instrument, or amps, or telephone or back-up hard-drive with all it's wires and converters, etc.. It's maddening!! ! I've been trying to buy different colored wires whenever possible, but almost all of the are usually black... the wires to the lighted mirror, cellphone chargers inside, television wires, fan wires, anything--- you name it.. It ends up becoming a giant tangled ball.. which my brain has a hard time unraveling, you know what I mean? Does anyone else experience this frustration?
In the car, it's the cell charger, the wire to the back-up power block in case the battery goes dead (because I forget and leave a light on), the old cell phone charger that I forgot to remove from the car, etc. etc.. maddening.. somehow an instrument cable ends up in there or some (don't ask me how this happens, but it's happened!) spare black shoelace... I once had an electrician friend join me in my vehicle and that person gladly untangled the wires when observing how upset I was (being an electrician and dealing with wires, might be an advantage to look for in a possible mate as well as someone who likes to cook?? )
Is this a pet-peeve for anyone else here? Have you come up with any solutions? I've bought those little velcro wraps and have been meaning to try and use them.. Maybe there's such a thing as a headphone wire that has the automatic roll-up type attachment to it? Those are pretty good at least for the telephone anyway..

I get that all the time, but I'm patient when undoing the knots. The way I see it, it's better to be patient and undo it slowly so as not to destroy them than destroy them and have to go without any.

Cables are very messy, especially as nearly everything seems to have one now.
And cable tidies can be bad,dad got some to use with his pc,and they tightened the cables so tight into the tube together they pull the cables out of the sub woofer thingy and the sound is usually gone from one speaker and bad in other.
Wireless stuff is best,if it is possible.
And for headphones,am find the curly cables are better, they can also be pulled out of the headphones themselves and tidyed away if wanted.

it's the Electrognomes... I run into it all the time; someone has a PC that's been sitting there for years, untouched, but when you try to take it apart, someone has woven everything together...
One thing I learned in my 20 minutes as a professional roadie is getting cables to lay better. One technique is to make a loop, but give it a half-twist with your thumb. They tend to roll up better that way. just loop the excess up.
Another thing is those little velcro cable ties. I tend to bunch wires together a lot, so I'll leave enough slack at the end to make connections, but then tie them into one big long cable. (Professional musicians have something called 'snakes', but that's kinda specialized...and very expensive..
Failing that, you might think about wireless devices. Nothing to tangle there, except maybe frequencies.
hope that helps.
