I am so tired of her letting me get my hopes up only so she can smash them into little insignificant bits of nothing. I thought she'd changes, but realy it was only because I'd been walking on eggshells all this time and didn't realize. Yesterday was a bad day and she made it worse with her incessant badgering. I finally snapped(yelled back) and she tried to kick me out. NOW I am not going on the band trip I've been looking foward to ALL THIS YEAR because she says she isnt paying because I dont deserve it. And she says my grandad isnt doing it either....so I am not to ask. She says if my grandparents on my dads side(I barely know them)want to pay for the whole thing than that's how I'll go. She knows they won't.

according to my mother. its ok to make your children hate you bc it motivates them to move out of the house.

How much time do you have, perhaps you could ask the school/whoever the band is associated with if there is a fund, or a way you can do a fund raiser? Then you wouldn't have to rely on her for it anyway.

Why is she making your life worth nothing at all?

I'm glad my parents made my home-life unpleasant. I loved being on my, alone all of the time (I'm married now, with one child). Absolute best thing they ever did for me. I had almost no money, but so what? I was dependent upon them for nothing, so I was free to say whatever I wanted without fear of punishment. Meanwhile, my kid brother (now mere months shy of his 30th birthday and NT) is still living at home because they've made it too cushy for him. He blows his fairly decent income on whatever he wants, gets his laundry done, dinner is waiting for him should he come home in time, or wrapped up nicely and sitting in the 'fridge should he not. He's really a nice kid, but holy hell. Which of us got the better deal? I think I did, by a long shot.

WOW blackcat, that's rough. It DOES happen to most people though. MY mother is like that, EVEN TODAY! I don't ask her for ANYTHING, and don't NEED anything. HECK, I live THOUSANDS of miles away from her, and see her an average of 2-3 days a year.(Really about a week every 2 years) STILL, she may call, and I HAVE to answer the call to prevent her calling 911(The emergency number in the US for those that don't know). She calls the police to check on the weather! She asks to come over(That means she has to pay like $300 for a plane ticket!) When I lived near her, she might talk about things I did as a baby, and she has pictures of me as a baby or in military school! Talk about embarassing.

I wish you luck. Some mothers are just NEUROTIC!

blackcat, I think it is possible for your mother [or any person] to say irrational things when in a disagreement/arguement.
When my mother and I get into disagreements of some sort, she always says that I can't do things that I want to do....but in the end, she lets me. She may be saying that you can't go on the band trip just to get you to try and behave really well. I guess it's parents little [but messed up] way of making themselves feel superior.

If she is serious about not letting you go though, just because you became irritated at her "badgering"...then I guess that you'll have to find alternative ways of getting there. I'm not sure when this camp is, but you may be able to get a job and pay for it if thats possible. Or you could ask your school principal whether or not they have payment subsides available for the "less fortunate" students [I know that my old high school did that].

Thank you for your replies. The trip no longer matters. She wants me to drop out of school and move out. I am bringing home the papers today so she can sign them.

BY LAW, she is supposed to ENCOURAGE you until you're 18. And she is supposed to take care of you until you are 18! You should stay in school, etc....
