Okay so I so I just recently found out I've been having seizures my whole life, but I was wondering, after a siezure i seem to be more autistic and/or very tired. What is everybody else like after siezures?

How could you go through life not realizing you had siezures?

Were you having those little siezures where you kind of just ...disconnect for a few seconds? Or were they petite mal siezures? Grand mal?

I got seizures when i was a baby. I was wondering if it was connected to aspergers...is it?

I've also had a couple unexplained blackouts recently...i dunno if they were seizures but i guess they could've been??

I'm foruntate enough to not have siezures but it's unforunate that you and others have to go through that. I couldn't imagine my body just doing things I didn't want it to do at any time. You look like a cute girl too. Is there medication that can stop or at least slow it down?

Age1600:

I've had both convulsive seizures and blackouts, but they are infrequent. Physical bodily stress (hitting my head, intense pain, fever / dehydration) trigger the episodes for me. At the onset, I feel disoriented and very heavy, then lights appear in my mind that spread to complete black emptiness. During the convulsions my conscious mind experiences nothing - at least I don't remember anything. Afterwards I gradually gain consciousness, but can't speak and feel that I need to sleep, or at least lie still. I usually don't try to get up from the floor (or wherever) for at least a half hour. I try to take it easy for the following day.

Epilepsy and autism are considered to be "co-morbid" conditions because a high percentage of autistics also have epilepsy. Darn brain wiring!

Thanks, and nah any kind of medicine makes me worse. I'm deathly afraid to take any medicine for my tourettes because when i mean any medicine makes me worse, i mean even little aleve, advil, tylenol, simple drugs make weird.

Yea I find myself nonverbal a lot these days, especially after seizures, hmmm. Thank gosh for pecs haha, and signing! How long do you stay nonverbal. I dont just become nonverbal due to seizures, it happens to me due overstimulation, sensory overload, meltdowns, anything. I guess since I grew up nonverbal, my body goes right back to that point i guess its safer idk, personally i hate it lol.

No idea. I know my mother said I'd be worn out for awhile afterwards (I had them when little, and I supposedly grew out of them, which is a common thing to have occur). Mine were the full-blown ones.

It's common for people with ASDs to experience seizures, especially those with autism compared to Asperger's.

I FEEL LIKE HORSEDROPPINGS AFTERWARDS.

Having seizures sux, I never wished it on myself, besides it limits my options in life. But the prejudice from other people about it is worse ,which is why I dont talk about aspies. :)

I had a couple of seizures in my life, but I luckily bounced back quickly with no effects other than a sore tongue.

I'm curious- how did you find this out? Did you have a grand mal?

I have temporary paralysis down the right side of my body after a seizure, and I need about three hours' sleep in order to recover from it.

I used to be a lot worse, though - the paralysis used to last a lot longer than it does now, and I used to be absolutely destroyed by the fits themselves. Now I'm up and able to move in about ten minutes (my head still aches like nobody's business, and my right hand and right leg don't behave as efficiently as they should, mind you, but I'm still able to move nevertheless).
