It takes me a while to get to recognise a face and then when I think I'll know them when I see them again, they only have to tie their hair back or something and I won't recognise them.
In time I get to recognise people ok though. :)
I understand this is common with Aspies.

With twins though, I seem to be able to tell them apart more accurately than most NT's.
Twins have been amazed before how I have always been able to tell them apart, when others have failed.

I can't think of a reason that I can tell the difference between twins, yet it takes me so long to recognise people as a rule.

I wonder if there is any logic behind it?

some times there is no logic behind things.

I can get a complex problem up in front of me and 'see' what many others have missed. I am no good at thousand pieces puzzle games, or cross words. But give me some complex investigative issue and it's like a little magic wand waves and I 'see' the issue. POP.

I know another Aspie that does staggeringly difficult math problems the same way. He says he feels like a fake when someone calls him a mathematician because it just 'rises up' out of him somewhere.

My prof once called it synthesis. Cause you have internalized all the variables and can synthesize the issue right there in your mind.

maybe that is how you 'see' the difference in the twins. you are not distracted by their similarities.
