Hi,
I am the parent of a 7yo autistic happy boy. First off let me say that me and my wife have a lot of trust in our autism doctor that we bring our son to. He has explained things very clear to me and my wife over the years and i do believe he is one of those rare doctors who want to fix autistic kids under all circumstances. Well, i watch the Jenny Mcarthy specials, hear of others who had outstanding results in different diets, results in different treatments.ect. We have discussed these different success stories we hear and our doctor which tells us .. "While there is no proven treatment for autistic children, try what you can and see if you can have positive results." I do believe that autism is genetic to a degree and is agitated and exploited due to some factor, environmental, chemical, etc. It just seems so overwhelming on where i start "once again", with new diets and other changes and how long do i try things until we decide what we were doing doesn't work. Meaning, we tried removing gluten from our 7yo's diet and OMG, what a nightmare it was.. So many foods to look at and of course my 7yo likes what all 7yo's like.. Mc Donalds, hotdogs, chick strips..ect. But in the end we did it and didn't see anything positive or negative.
Well i would like to talk with other parents around my area on what they tried and how things worked..etc. I look and see 100's of autism websites and not sure what is trust worthy to point us in the right direction to get us in contact with others families with autism. Would you all have some good recommendations?
Thanks
