Since it's Autism Awareness Month, I thought I would bring this up. Well a music education major at my university wants to know about AS and how he should deal with students with AS. Well, I already printed two articles about AS from Wikipedia for him to read and I can also share my experiences with AS. However, I know that many of you have completely different experiences with AS.

So, I ask you all, how would you teach education majors about AS and what would YOU discuss AS if you were to either speak one-on-one or give a lecture?

I'm not sure if this answers your question or not, but this is an essay I wrote.

Otherwise get people thinking about thought process and the like... Ask them some pretty detailed questions.

And as far as music went, I could follow along fine as long as I was not expected to sing. I could listne and enjoy the music. But if I tried to read the music, sing and keep pace, that would stress me out.

As part of the lecture, get them to close their eyes and imagine being autistic in a certain situation (eg. sitting in a lecture, driving in traffic etc.) while you read a description of what it would be like for them. Maybe get an autistic person to write the description for them.
