Mods, I already know I put this in Members Only discussion, but if I want to get this done on time I really need some traffic, cuz at this rate I won't (and I have been surveying outside WP). I just need 22 more people to help me with this survey, it will take you no more than a minute.

As of right now, I am currently enrolled in Statistics class at my college, and my end-semester project involves the collection of data and proper analysis, so I decided that I would do an analysis of individuals with Asperger Syndrome. I am looking to get at least 35 subjects to fill out this short questionnaire below, it’s really short, though I have only a few conditions:

• You must have Asperger Syndrome.
• You must be professionally diagnosed; sorry, but no self-diagnoses :(

Also, I won't share the personal information you give me outside of the academic environment. No one will be able to trace what you give me back to you (if privacy is a concern for you).

With that, here is the questionnaire!!

1. Have you been diagnosed by a qualified practitioner (neurologist, psychiatrist, etc.)?
2. Have you been diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome?
3. How many years has it been since you have been diagnosed?
4. What is your current age?
5. What is the highest level of education that you have pursued? Select One (Delete all that don't apply)

a. Currently in high school or earlier
b. High school graduate, no further education
c. Two-year college experience, no graduation
d. Two-year college graduate
e. Four –year college experience, no graduation
f. Four-year college graduate
g. More than undergraduate degree

6. How many total years have you been pursuing education?*

*In short, how many total years have you been sitting in a classroom setting or enrolled in school?

With that, thank you so much in advance!

That would have been a good idea, seeing dropout rates are an epidemic nowadays. It's a bit too late to add it in, though people have indicated it in the study themselves already, so if you want to put that in, that's okay. Besides, I'll be able to deduct that from the age and number of years in school too.

1. Have you been diagnosed by a qualified psychologist? No, I was diagnosed by a qualified neurologist.

2. Have you been diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome?
No, I am diagnosed as Higher Functioning Autistic with sensory/attention/and anxiety issues.
I was misdiagnosed as bipolar and OCD (5th grade and 8th grade, respectfully)
The following diagnosis were already established: Diabetes Type II, Asthma, Allergies, Anemia, and Mitral Valve Prolapse.
I just got "unofficially" diagnosed with Auditory Processing Disorder in November of 2007 (meaning, because I'm autistic, they can't rule it out, but because I have obvious difficulities with processing language in noisy backgrounds, they can't rule out the auditory processing disorder).

3. How many years has it been since you have been diagnosed?
Four. I was diagnosed when I was 22.

4. What is your current age?
Current age: 26.

5. What is the highest level of education that you have pursued? Select One (Delete all that don't apply)
g. More than undergraduate degree
I will have my Master of Library Science as of May 2008.

6. How many total years have you been pursuing education?
Including high school? 22 years. That's 85% of my life!

Are you from a nation besides the US? Because I forgot to take into account that many users of WP are outside the US, and the educational system is not homogeneously structured throughout the world :) I'm a little bit confused as to what kinds of schools those are that you're describing though. Could you clarify what they are?

Well, think of high school completion as being the schooling that you are required by law to take. It's basically your nation's standardized educational system, and everything after that is simply optional education. I should probably just add another option, h. other.

Mmm, I'll work with whatever information you all give me as far as variability goes and I'll account for it on my own.

Yes, I'm outside the US, my family lives in Germany. The school system of the US is so different to the German system. In Germany there is elementary school (grades 1 to 4 usually) and secondary school, the later divided into three different types of schools. It's getting more complicated, because they all lead to different qualifications. The Abitur is the highest certificate one can get in school and it's acquired after completing grade 13 and final exams. (The other types of sec. schools cover classes from grades 5 to 9 and/or 5 to 10).

Only with the Abitur one is allowed to study at a university. Become a doctor, psychologist, linguistics professor... Germany follow European standards in regards to university degrees.

Did that make sense? I assume it's as confusing as the US system is for me!

Now, I suppose this would indeed be...

h. other.
