My son, Hunter's Psychiatrist said on Friday that he has Asperger's Syndrome. Well, my son's Pediatrician asked for a copy of the report that was wrote about Hunter. I went and picked up a copy of it from his couselor today. Naturally, I looked at it. It was dated 3-4-08, and said NOTHING about the Aspeerger's. I'm in shock as to what to do! My appointment is at 9:45 in the morning. Do I need to try and get a copy of the notes that were taken on Friday to take to the Pediatrician? Or do I need to ask the Pediatrician to try to assess him? I'm confused, and very distraught....... :(

Hopefully someone has a better answer, but:

If you can't get in touch with either of them before the appointment, you should probably go as scheduled and mention the report didn't say anything specifically about it and ask if you need to get further information from the psychiatrist.

Did he perhaps call it something else or did he say "all is fine"? I know some psychiatrist are hesitent to DX autism because of insurence resons(it's not covered by many insurence companies).Perhaps he didn't want to put anything in the official records until talking to you about your preference?(Unfortunately, that is a catch 22 ,because he needs the DX to be able to get IEP assistence)

Call the diagnosing doctor and request that they fax information on your son's diagnosis to the pediatrician immediately.
