PS - just an observation since I think our system is very female biased...once again it seems to be another place for women, have yet to find one for men...if someone knows of such a place, maybe it should be posted...

Don't be silly. You can't keep men together in groups, everyone knows they'll just fight.

Its what all the NT boys would do after P.E. while we were waiting for the coaches to unlock the doors to the locker room.

Okay, okay. They don't always fight.

Not if you get them neutered in advance.

it sounds good, there are no countryside residential homes here.

am do not know why they do not allow males as both are same, but may be something similar, sister used to work for a mental health and learning difficulty group home company called creative support,a few of their homes were female or male only, she said some females had been abused by males and werent able to live in mixed group homes.
For Autism,am wonder if they are using autistic stereotypes of the genders-eg,females-quiet and less obvious,males-violent and attacking? am do not like places that see autism in such stereotyping,am female and a recent unofficial label that was given to am was 'explosive autism' which puts am on the male side of stereotypes-not the female side.
if they think males will disrupt the females, what happens when they get a female who meets male stereotyping? am only assuming thats why as cant think of any other reason why they would want to seperate gender.

In my area of Central New York State, there are many community residences, supportive apartments, an Alcohol Crisis Center,
a Rescue Mission for men and a Crisis cottage for anyone experiencing mental or emotional problems but do not need inpatient psychiatric care. These places are managed by Upstate Cerebral Palsy, the Kelberman Center for Autism the area's psychiatric center or Catholic Charities...the Rescue Mission is religious-based too, and accommodates any guy that suddenly becomes "homeless" in Central New York or just passing through the city heading downstate to NYC.

As for guys living in "groups," they do much better than females...females are more likely to fight, not males. When I was in a psychiatric hospital, they placed four guys to a dorm-like room and the females were accommodated two to a room only. One guy assigned to this "dorm-like" room (with three other guys during his hospital stay) said it made him feel like he was back at summer camp as a kid!

Well, I don't think this should be a problem as long as people have the option of selecting a co-ed facility. I don't know how disabled these autistic women are, but I can see why some women and caretakers might feel safer in a women's facility.
