Why don't I see many patterns anymore

I used to see patterns all the time when I was younger but I usually just like a faint moving line when I look at certain things now.What happened?

Maybe you just don't have as much time to stare at ceilings and carpets?

You aged some. With increasing age comes a loss of mental flexibility. It is not too bad until one is really, really old.
