I haven't seen any of your posts on the subject, so I'm kind of lost here. I've learned a bit on the subject in my Psychology class, so I'll let you in on that.
All I know is that physical punishment (such as whipping) becomes extremely damaging when used in excess. Effectively it winds up only teaching resentful obedience. Which of course vanishes once the circumstances change sufficiently, effectively rendering it pointless in the long term. And it will actually impede the development of a sense of ethics. Since Ethics apply regardless of the possibility of punishment.
I'm not sure how much of that could help you. I'm just saying that most psychologists would be on your side.
