I am curious to know if there is some commonality, and also about whether I have HFA/AS.

Did you smile for cameras as a child? Are there any childhood pictures of you smiling a not-genuine smile?

Have you changed since you were younger in the way that you react to cameras?

i have far more pictures where I am not smiling than I do where I am smiling.

When we would have family gatherings, they would take the group photos over and over again to try to get one where I am smiling...so there are lots of pics (the majority of family photos where if I am smiling it looks very akward and forced because I was told to smile...and i had to smile, or they would just keep taking pictures.. :?

I can think of only a few childhood photos where I have a genuine actual smile...one was taken on my fifth birthday, and one was taken when I was a baby.

Image

here is a typical akward holiday photo....I am the one not smiling.

There are many photos where I look really detached or in my own little world compared to my sister and cousins...

There are alot of pictures though, where I look relaxed and content even though I am not smiling..partially because I was not being pressured to do so.
I am not smiling in any of the many pictures my mom took of me, but I don't look quite so uncomfortable. I look "introspective"

Thats what most of my pictures look like too. And my 4 yo has that serious, thinking, disconnected sorta look.

I will have to figure out how to paste an image in my post, but I rarely smiled on picture, except the occasional weird giggle because I was uncomfortable.
I always that distant, almost creepy look going on.

Oh, when I was a child, I always used to have these big, toothy smiles in all my pictures.

Then as I grew older, I adopted the smirk...or barely smiled at all. :P

My childhood pics had more of me smiling than not smiling. Natural smiles too. And I looked at the camera.

I always had a big, natural smile in all of my childhood photos.

Well, that is an unfair question. All my pictures were POSED, and HARD at that! Generally, you will see me with a grin at best.

I don't smile in a lot of my pictures and the "goofy pictures" they would take after the serious ones, I would do anything goofy. I just glared at the camera.

well, that's a bit of an odd question. When someone told me they were taking a picture of me I faked a smile. When they took one without warning I looked as I usually did: completely non-plussed. But this is more or less true of anybody. I did smile more as a child than I do now, but the reason for that is simple, back then I thought things would get better.

I never smiled in photos and if i am smiling in one its because they forced me to and my smile ends up looking stupid and fake because i just don't know how to smile.

Very few of my baby pictures show me smiling, unless I was not aware of the camera. I have a solemn bewildered stare. I also would not look anyone in the face unless forced to.

Yes, in most of them.

In my baby pictures I always seem distracted, though I did smile. From ages three to about nine I had a wide eyed grin that showed all my teeth (Mom always described me as a "wild child" and it shows in those pictures). After about nine I became more aware of my behavior and I didn't smile "naturally" in my pictures much after that. I only recently learned to not have a forced smile while having my picture taken.

I appear to be smiling in my childhood pictures, but I have a Sid-like expression on my face.

Yep.

(It's beside the point that I'm looking at the ground whilst smiling in most of them (<4).)
