One day about a years ago I got fed up of life being hard work and wanted to find out if my Aspergers was causing many of my problems. I've had work issues, social issues I have absolutely no life or friends and the only thing keeping me going was my computer. I'd herd of a organisation called the NSAAA (The North Staffs Asperger/Autism Association) Thanks to the internet I was able to look them up and contacted them for help. I wanted to know more about Aspergers and help with work and so on.
The NSAAA gave me another contact to another organisation in Staffordshire called Life Works. Life Works has been great they helped me get extra money I should have been getting but was constantly refused up until I got the help. Life Work's main goal is to find people with Aspergers a job in an working environment that will not cause them to much stress/ distress anxiety or depression and so on. It still took ages to get help from DLA and so on but we got there in the end.
Life Works also got in contact for me a woman that could get me financial aid that can only be used to fun going out and generally have a better life. The money would help me pay the wages of a mentor and to go places that I wouldn't normally do because either my nerves would stop me or I just didn't bother because it meant doing it alone. I was told that aid will start about next (month. Happy
)
Now here is the coolest thing. The woman also contacted a company called Brighter Futures. These people help to get homes. I'm not sure if they only help Autistic people or people with disabilities in general. For about £25 a week I'll able get my own apartment furnished and have all my bills paid. My jaw dropped and I though Wow. I'm still pursuing this but things are looking good.
I'm happy I pushed myself to make that first move instead of sitting around being all depressed. The ball has started to roll and it looks like my most of my crappy life may becoming to an end some time in the near future. Hopefully with more independence I'll improve has a person too, learning more helpfully things that will get me through life.
I had to post this here in hope it gives others the enthusiasm to get the ball rolling and try and get any help they deserve. As the helps out there but you have to really go looking for it. With the power of the internet that search becomes alot easier.

WOW!! !! ! £25=~$50! That is about $220/month The average place in the US costs OVER $600/month!! !! Section 8, if you manage to get it, drives the price down to over $120/month. That does NOT include furnishings which can be expensive, and doesn't include certain utilities which will probably be over $60/month. BTW Section 8 is for all people, in the US, making about poverty level or less.
Anyway, I am glad you managed to get all that help.
